Maybe Andy Kershaw finally caught up with him and wanted his act back?
I'm pretty sure that Radcliffe has been at the BBC, originally as a radio producer, from the time that Kershaw was also there, if not before.
I wouldn't draw too much comparison between them, myself, not least as Kershaw is far more annoying, not too unlike his sister Liz.
Yeah, when they sent him to Donny one year for the OGWT, he was annoying. TBH I don't think summer festivals are the same without MOR in the mix.

They're both John Peel wannabes who mistake sarcastic Northernness for talent.

Just to point out, QotSA did headline this year, albeit on the "Other" stage whilst Elton was on. But a rocking good show all the same.

Headliners for this year's event seem to be Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA, with Shania Twain doing the Sunday Legends spot Smile
