EDIT: Still time to enter if more people want to play - first kick off in just over 3 hours time if you're playing all the matches. I've decided the jokers will only count for exact scores, I feel this method reflects the skill of predicting better. Which is exactly what i was trying to say in a PM to Regenerated ages ago but he didn't understand what i was talking about.

To me it doesn't make sense a joker not counting as a correct result when it is a correct result.

I have repeatedly tried to explain this to you. Not just in reply to your PM, but in repeated posts in public view in last season's thread and last season's chat and discussion thread. Why you are bringing this nonsense up again is beyond me, but I will attempt to say it again.

A joker is not a correct result. It is a successful exact score, meaning a correct score. You get three points for a correct score, and one point for a correct result. The successful joker doubles the correct score, meaning six points. Several players have posted that they wish the format should remain the same. Therefore I will not allow correct results to be doubled, as I don't wish to change the format, go against opinion.

I have posted in reply to circles_o_o_o idea about allowing it to stand to for correct results for a two points instead of one. I replied that in my view a joker is a unique scoring opportunity and I don't wish to add more novelty scoring to take the game away from the core skill of predicting. Therefore, it will remain only as a reward for a correct score. I think this highlights the skill involved in this game. A skill you yourself were very fond of when you achieved good success in this topic last season. You said so yourself in last season's thread.

So what didn't I understand? I'm afraid it is you who seems not to understand.

Please help me someone. Help me explain to KM. The constant bickering under my tenure running this game is getting painful.

As the one who introduced the joker rule in the first place I can clarify I implemented it for an exact matching scoreline and not just a matching result.
This enables 6 points to be scored rather than 3 because an exact matching scoreline has been predicted. If double points were given out for just matching results there would be 2 points being dished out left right and centre on the basis that wins, losses or draws are easier to get than exact scores.

To put it another way.

Correct result = To predict a draw but not with the right total goals.
For example I predict 1-1 but it finishes 2-2.
If I played the joker on 1-1 it fails.

Correct score: To predict a scoreline that totally reflects the outcome.
For example I predict Arsenal 2-1 Everton and Arsenal win the game 2-1.
If I play my joker on this it is successful.
