There seems to be a few prediction games starting up on the forum so it's probably high time for another one - especially as the Premier League returns at the weekend...

... so who's in? Smile

I was thinking of introducing a few changes to the format for this season, but if people prefer the old way, I'm more than happy to go with that. Post your thoughts on the following:-

- Firstly, all previous seasons have been played as one league format, ie all forum members competing in one league table. For this season I was weighing up the idea of putting all entries in to groups and then having the top two or three from each group qualify for a knockout round towards the end of the season...

- the second change I thought of was adding another way to score double points. We already have the jokers introduced a few seasons ago to give you six points for a correct score. How about another way to score six points by having a "dream team".. this would involve you selecting one of the 20 premier league teams as your dream team for a round and then getting six points if that team wins. Of course there are 38 rounds in a premier league season and only 20 teams so you'd have to choose when to play your dream teams as each team can only be played once and not enough teams to play one each round.

Fire away with your comments, please - the more feedback the better. Depends on how much feedback I get but the dream team addition seems more likely, given that the group format may mean some players are left with little to do at the closing stages of the season. Rest of the rules remain the same - three points for correct score, 1 point for correct result and fixtures will always be posted in this thread and taken from the Premier League website.

In the meantime, here's the fixtures for week one. Newly promoted Fulham host rejuvenated Arsenal to commence proceedings.

Good luck! Smile

WEEK 1

Saturday 12th September

Fulham v Arsenal - 1230
Crystal Palace v Southampton - 1500
West Ham v Newcastle - 1500
Liverpool v Leeds United - 1730

Sunday 13th September

West Bromwich Albion v Leicester - 1400
Tottenham v Everton - 1630

Monday 14th September

Brighton v Chelsea - 2000
Sheffield United v Wolves - 2000
I for one would like things to stay as they are not keen on the proposed changes.
No, I don't like the sound of the groups. It's a long format competition, every point scored should count, and the winner is the person with the most points at the end. I want to know how I've done compared to everyone else, even if it's near the bottom there is still satisfaction in moving up a place and beating the people immediately around you.
The "dream team" sounds okay but I think 6 points is too much as it would veer the scores away from reflecting the core game of simple predictions. The winner should be the best predictor and not just someone who gets lucky with novelty stuff.
If I can suggest one idea it would be to allow the joker to count for a correct result (for an additional 1 point) as well as just for an exact score.
Firstly as I've mentioned before you have done a great job running the predictions mate.

As for the format, personally I like the one league style but maybe you could add a cup or groups as a side thing, not that I want to put more pressure on you Shy

Anyway on to the predictions

Saturday 12th September

Fulham 1-2 Arsenal
Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton
West Ham 1-3 Newcastle
Liverpool 3-0 Leeds United (joker)

Sunday 13th September

West Bromwich Albion 0-1 Leicester
Tottenham 2-2 Everton

Monday 14th September

Brighton 0-2 Chelsea
Sheffield United 1-0 Wolves
I like the ideas but obviously not everyone will be keen on the risk of getting eliminated so what about possibly doing bonus points for whoever is leading (or possibly for say the top 3) every 4 weeks or so Shy

One of my ideas is maybe doing a mini league so i don't know how many enter but say if we had 20 players we could have 10 in the Premier League , 10 in the Championship with a promotion and relegation process 3 up , 3 down and you can only win it once you are in the Premier League you are the true predictions champion so how we could do this is the top 10 from last season go in the Premier League the bottom 10 last season go in the Championship.
To keep it short and sweet my general current view is.......if it aint broke don't try and fix it Wink.
Anyway to re-enter the prediction fray Wink (even though I'm useless) Rolleyes Big Laugh
