BBC have had a bunch of folk go through the report and got their feedback;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-25109390

It all sounds like a lot of proposals which sound good but as usual aren't backed up with any future proofing. The damning bit for me is the 'Sterling union' where Scotland uses the pound and her rates are related and effectively tied to those of the rest of the UK. Firstly, that doesn't sound very independent to me, and secondly, it sounds like a bad deal for the UK as it would tie any problems in Scotland's economy to the UK treasury, potentially bringing them down.

That and other 'pie in the sky' ideas present in the report should be major concerns for any sensible 'yes' voter as the answers to any related questions they may have won't realistically be forthcoming until AFTER votes have been cast.

Effectively, after a potential 'yes' vote the UK could negotiate terms with a 'go f*ck yourself laddie' approach and leave Scotland with no currency plans let alone monetary policy!

Basically thats what they are banking on they can spend spend spend because they know that the uk goverment will bail them out like we did with Ireland

the engery policy about cutting bills by 5 % is a vote winner but surely in an independant scotland will only be one or 2 major scottish energy firms which will be an monopoly so they could charge as much as they like

also scotland has a lot of power stations but most are old and decrepid which means they will have to be replaced in next decade or so what will they replace them with and whos gonna pay for them

Has anyone thought of the cost of splitting everything up?
The lawyers and legal firms will make a fortune out of the taxpayers if the vote is yes.

Am happy to cut em loose to be honest. Poorer countries than them have made it. Small tiny nations exist so can they. Once we dont pay for their existence! To be honest I think they will do ok eventually they will become an EU state and they will be made after that!

RE: Scottish Independence
This is essentially agreeing to divorce before agreeing the terms of the divorce. Even if the promises made have any substance to them, it's still down to Westminster to agree it all. Does anyone really think they'll just bend over to Salmond's demands?

In any case, people seem to be losing sight of the fact that this is Politicians we're dealing with here; it doesn't matter which side they're from, they run economies for the benefit of corporates, banks, lobbyists, party-backers, themselves and their rich friends; not for the people.

As Scotland's Billy Connolly said, "I think, roughly, the desire to be a politician, should ban you for life for ever being one". The independence question should really be 'Would you rather be fucked over by Edinburgh or London?'

Just finally, rather than Yes and No, surely the above poll should be Aye and Nae?

RE: Scottish Independence
How I understand it..
Alex Salmon is promising an independant Scotland where they will still have the Queen as the head of State, still have the pound as the currency, still be about to pick up the usual TV shows, not have any border controls with England.

Isn't that what we have now..
