Think the independence argument is falling to bits

One of the main problems, among many, is that there are many people in Scotland who currently receive some form of state benefit. Under an 'independent' Scotland the finances would simply not be there to fund the same level of benefit payments. The solution would be either 1), a massive rise in council/local income tax (a direct tax on personal earnings) or 2), a massive cut in the benefits budget.

Current opinion polls put those in favour of an 'independent' Scotland in the region of 25% to 33%.
