hopefully this will be the torpedoe to sink yes on independance and sent the nats homewards tae think again

If i could find a girl that had the looks of Gal Gadot, breasts of Sophie Mudd with Demi Rose's ass, the personality of Jessica Ennis, the grace of Kendall Jenner on the red carpet and then behind closed doors the raw sexual energy of Nicole Snow i'd know i was dead and gone to heaven, so i'll just take Demi Rose's ass and Nicole's sexual energy

RE: Scottish Independence
Very probably torpedoed, at least in the short term.

I've got no problem with the idea of Scottish independence but it was always apparent to me that Alex Salmond worked on the basis that the EU would be his safety net, investing vast funds to build up his fledgling country in the same way as Ireland (and look what happened to them).

The problem now is that the EU is totally and utterly skint, so there is no safety net. The current recession means that to go for independence in the next few years is a massive financial risk. Salmond must come up with meaningful figures to demonstrate that he's got it all worked out, and to date I'm not convinced he has.

If Scotland gained membership, they would be required to contribute to the EU kitty as any member country is. In effect, this means that any EU grants for English projects, would be in part funded by an independent Scotland and other EU members. Also, EU bailouts would be funded by every member country in some way, shape or form. That is the cost and the responsibility of membership, where everybody subsidises everybody else to some degree.

Scotland has its own parliament now. Who needs independence? What would the benefits of it be?

If that's the only benefit, there's no point then is there... after all, you lot don't even like the babeshows any more... Wink

Just joking.. but seriously, I can't see it working.

Alex Salmond has always struck me as wanting to chase a dream, almost impossible dreams. I've got no problem with having dreams and giving them the chance to vote on a dream, but the reality of it is that the EU has no money. I don't believe that there's enough money in Scotland to make a worthwhile contribution to that fund.

As an Englishman, I wish you the best of luck with your dreams, but Salmond would have to give the Scottish people a full, detailed plan on the finances and how a country with 5 million people can stand up to a crisis when countries with in excess of 60 million people have failed. If independence does happen and a seperate Scottish currency is created, what would that be and would it have enough clout to trade in international markets?

Personally I believe the Euro will fail eventually. It's all looking rather bleak for many countries across this continent at the moment - certainly a precarious time for any ideas of independence and going it alone.

RE: Scottish Independence
I havn't voted because we're only a few weeks into a 2year campaign and I think it's way too early to be making a firm descision.

At the moment though I'm swaying towards 'no' purely on the SNP's arrogant, patronising attitude. The thrust of their campaign, so far, seems to be "just vote yes and it'll all be ok, trust us". Frankly I wouldn't trust Wee Eck as far as I could throw him. Just look at the way he misled (and I'm being kind here) us on Scotland's position in the EU after independance and the stupidity in petitioning Trump (a New Yorker ffs) to back the Lockerbie bombers release.
My dad always said Salmond was a "sleekit wee c**t" and I havn't seen anything lately to make me think he was wrong.

I'm genuinely undecided at the moment but the SNP will have to come up with some hard facts and figures if they want my vote. All this smoke and mirrors stuff isn't going to cut it.
