Tell friends on social networking sites (If your signed up to facebook or twitter, not that I am, but it'll spread the word fast) tell all your mate, make them know that this petition is on the go! Might even be worth making sure the people behind the shows know about this too, and the babes.

To be honest I think a lot of the babes are happy with the current rules in place as a lot of them are getting away with making rank rotten shows and are using the ofcom rules to their full advantage. If the rules change we'll still be lumbered with a lot of dead wood for a while yet, but yes the more signatures we get the more realistic chance we have of getting shows more fitting to this kind of market.

Theres always going to be some babes supporting ANY position. Harder, softer, same as now, earlier, later, free, encrypted. A while back some people were against stronger shows because the current crop of babes would be uncomfortable with it. But that ignored that many of the babes joined up to a particular style of show, and there were others who decided to stick with other forms of the entertainment industry.

Bottom line is shows now are so feeble that only a handful of major players can afford to stay in business. The minnows go under at the first sign of a complaint storm. That makes it an employers market.

Also tame shows = low call volumes and low call charges = low wages.

RE: Petition
Scottishbloke - I didn't think of it that way! You are right, I'm sure the ofcunt rules are a relief to some babes, however there are some dirty babes that would sign it still....

It is currently on 10, I'm sure there must be more members logged on this site then 10, so it'd be a shame if it didn't it make 1000 let alone 200,000!

RE: Petition
Not enough votes to get debated in Parliament yet, not even enough to give MPs sleepless nights, but the petition has crept up to page 3. To get noticed by people who are not specifically looking for it, it needs to get to the 1st page so keep those votes coming.

Contacting people on social networking sites is an excellent idea.

As for the porn blocking petition, its already been rejected and BT blew a gasket. Things will change if it does get 100,000 votes, but if it sticks at 20 MPs will say that tells them all they need to know.

PS. Please hold off voting for other DCMS petitions for a while or this one will get pushed back.

RE: Petition
In a couple of weeks we will know where we stand realistically with this petition. Like you say Eccles, we need to get it on the first page ideally for it to get noticed. If it doesn't even make the first few pages then the casual browser won't even notice it. We need to get this out there!

Anyone know of any newspapers we could contact to advertise this for free? Big Grin Wink

RE: Petition
The current number of members on this forum is 53,703, so if they all sign the petition we're over half way for a debate in parliament.

Hopefully people will see this thread and start signing.

To sign it click the Sign The Petition button, enter your name, email address, click UK citizen (assuming you are), address, postcode and the antispam words.

Call me an old cynic and you will and I understand that slight variations in your details might side step the authorities but there will be plenty of people signing this and other epetitions who will in all good faith enter their correct details.

So, what will be done with their details. Well, I suspect that if you are signing an epetition that agrees with government policy, not blaming this governement they would all do it if they had the chance, you might suddenly find e-mails and posted literature encouraging you to for vote for them and encourage your friends to vote for them at the next election.

If you sign an epetition that disagress with government policy and may I say actually disagrees with capitalist consumer led economies that you might end up on some sort of 'troublemaker' list.

But this is just me being paranoid. I'm sure that if you sign an epetition that is anti-Establishment and against current government policies that the authorities will have no interest in you whatsoever. Wink

RE: Petition
Good question Sam. My comments were directed at members who may be shy of disclosing their real identities, not people who have no reservations, but fair to ask if they are exposing themselves.

The new style petitions website does not publish names or allow comments the way the old one did. That provides a degree of protection.

Also the Terms and Conditions lay down very limited usage of personal information - confirmation and newsletters.
Quote:Anyone signing the e-petition must provide their name, home address and email address. No personal details will be published on the site. This information will not be used for any purpose other than in relation to the e-petition.

The government may contact you by email to:
•confirm you have submitted an e-petition
•confirm you have signed an e-petition
•provide updates about the e-petition
You will only receive a maximum of five emails for each e-petition.

If you sign an e-petition (are a 'signatory'), you will only receive updates if you choose this option when you sign it.

All petitioners and signatories will receive a first email that asks you to confirm your email address.

Having said that if proposing or voting for anything particularly outragous, or anything with keywords that might trigger unsophisticated interest in spooky quarters, discretion might be advised. But the powers that be have better things to do that compile lists of people wanting a minor relaxation of broadcasting policy.
