Man City got what they deserved in that game - Mancini can be so negative sometimes setting up the team not to loose, rather than to win. Thats the danger about playing that way - you could concede late on and then there's no time to get back in it. I was on course to get two feathers in the Captain's game, now I'll have to settle for just the one thanks to Ramires!

I would guess that either the player from the home team would get to keep the ball as it's the home club's ball (or is it? Who provides the matchball? The hosts or the association?), or maybe the first player to complete his hat-trick perhaps?

There could be another way, where the matchball is sportingly replaced by a new matchball for the remainder of the match to be played out with, whilst the original matchball is kept for one of the hat-trick heroes for later.

some players do enough "scoring" but not on the pitch.

To lindor's point about who provides matchballs, a new one is provided quickly when the ball goes out of play (such as to the keeper for a goal kick), so there would probably be plenty of matchballs to go round.

You'll note I've been careful to precede relevant mentions of the word "ball" with the word "match"

thats the england squad for wales and ghana. crouch, defoe and rooney cant score let alone of the on the pitch. i could see wales and ghana beating this lot. there are no decent english strikers like shearer, sheringham, hurst etc
