Just heard the news on Talksport. The same Micky Quinn who has slagged off Houllier at Villa with "He's been out of the premier leaguer for too long; the game has moved on" is not employing the same rationale with Dalglish - Suprise! suprise!

Good luck to King Kenny - I hope he's brings a magic wand with him.

I'm happy enough with Hodgson going but not so sure about Kenny comin in "til the end of the season". What does that mean for transfers this January? Maybe that would suggest that Comolli has ALL the say in transfers. But what big names are goin to come to a club without a permanent manager and languishing in mid-table?

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.

Just woke up to the news.I feel sorry for Roy.He's a good man. We've been on a downward spiral since Houllier was appointed. He and Rafa got 6 years each with only one good season each.

The new owners wouldn't have stood for that nonesense.

These lads don't mess about.

Delighted Kenny's back.The players won't know what's hit them.You'll see a different reds side 2morrow.

Buzzing at Kenny's return and disappointed for Roy.

It seems to me that Roy Hodgson has become a victim of player power here. They didn't seem to want to play for him, and he never really got the support since he started there.

Certain players have gone missing in vital games. I'm sure you Reds fans will find something to be happy about now that Kenny is in - as it was said earlier, he'll have them buzzing..... just a shame they couldn't do it for Hodgson...

A few players didn't put it in for Roy.Especially Glen Johnson for me.His attitude since Roy told him to sort his form out was a disgrace. He's one player i'd like to see sold.

Some fans got tired of the way the team were playing under Hodgson towards the end and gave him some stick, which isn't the Liverpool way and it pissed me and many more off.

Wish Hodgson all the best. He'll get a warm welcome back from the proper reds fans when he returns to Anfield with another team.

RE: Liverpool FC
Roy Hodgson had no choice but to go his tactics were abysmal, as i've said i'm not too sure about Kenny coming in as he's been out of the game too long but the next 3 games will tell if he's still got it, Utd (a) Blackpool (a) & Everton (h) you don't need much motivation for them games as a Liverpool player & if King Kenny's got the tactical nous for the game in the new millenium then we should win both the league games.

I obviously hope he can get us at least in with a fighting chance of a European Cup place come the end of April as i feel for financial more than sporting reasons J.W Henry needs to be in the Champions League. Putting him in charge till the end of the season is a good choice as it will give us a better chance of getting the right manager in with a full summer to choose who can take the club forward.
We need to be looking at a manager who has already won titles in the last 5 years as he will be able to put the players in the right frame of mind & use the right tactics to give us a chance to dominate teams rather than just play the match & go though the motions as we did under Hodgson & Rafa in the second half of last season, I hope in the summer we're looking at trying to get Carlo Ancelotti & José Mourinho or who knows maybe even Pep Guardiolabladewave Owen Coyle has done well to bring attacking football to Bolton but that maybe another Hodgson style risk.

One thing Kenny will bring is a chance for the youngsters especially Martin Kelly who i think we should use in the away games to bring more defensive stability & use the attacking ability of Glen Johnson at home, Jay Spearing has put in some good performances when given his chance & is a good central midfielder the same as Lucas, a steady player who goes about his work unheard of & also Dani Pacheco who would take the pressure off David Ngog & will add a little more creation than the Frenchman.

I can see Roy Hodgson getting the West Ham job as Avram Grant isn't a serious long term manager for any club, even though they've done well in the last few games other than the last match they still need a new manager & Hodgson is a quality manager down this end of the table & i could see him giving West Ham a massive chance of staying up if not definitely keeping them up.
I hope he does get the job when it becomes avalible at some point this month & i hope he does keep them up as like i say he's a good manager at this end of the table just not for Liverpool as we don't belong at this end!!!

You can't be serious? At best that remark ignories the facts and at worst it borders on xenophobic. We went nowhere under Evans. Houllier at least won trophies, nothing huge but trophies none the less, as well as a 2nd place finish. Under Rafa we won a European Cup, reached another final, an FA Cup and came within 4 points of winning the league. If you really want to find the start of the rot I'd begin with Sounness

I do wish Roy the best in the future but he simply had to go. He seems like a nice chap but he was the wrong man at the wrong time. His tactics were wrong, his signings bar Meireles were poor and he constantly said the wrong thing in press conferences. Hopefully Kenny can lead us to a respectable position come May and we can use this time to find a suitable long-term manager.

RE: Liverpool FC
Don't be soft lad.

Under Evans we played some brilliant football. We played the game the way it should be played with attacking full backs and dribbling wingers.Pass and move attacking football.

Gerrard Houllier played the most boring style of football imaginable!Plain Boring.Look at some of the signings the clown made!Diouf,Diao,Vignal,Biscan...He told us Bruno Cheyrou was the new Zidane!!!!Jeez lad what a blag that was! what more do u want me to say???He sold Robbie Fowler in his prime to Leeds United! He prefered to sign Diouf rather than keep Anelka who he already had on loan!I feel ill just going over it again!

Look what he's doing to Villa he's gonna end up taking them down!

One 2nd place finish???Boss lad.Do one Houllier.

He won 5 trophies in 2001,the league cup in 2003 and gave us 6 seasons of being the most boring team in England.

Steven Gerrard won us the European Cup in Istanbul.Him and the supporters inside the ground.Steve shot us into the Knockout rounds against Olympiakos in the last group game at Anfield and won us the trophy in istanbul with his unbeleivable second half performance.

Steve won us the FA cup on his own against West Ham.He carried Rafa's teams for 6 years.

Im not gonna go into Rafa's signings. He made some good ones Torres,Alonso(who he then tried to sell after one bad season and tried to replace him with Gareth Barry!!!)Reina but the rest were pretty rank.

So stubborn and unapproachable.Just read Carra's book! The players felt like they couldn't go up to him and ask a question or have a chat. What's that about?

Inter Milan soon sussed him.

You can Keep your facts and statistics lad.Give me a Liverpool side playing good attacking football anyday, who make the 750 a year on a ticket worth while.A team u look forward to going and watching every week knowing ur gonna get something worth watching.

That'll do me.

RE: Liverpool FC
I could join this debate in full Mitchell style but my post would be loooooooong as fuck!!! so i'll save the Mitchell toy player haters (You know who you both areWink) the bother.

Anyhows i see a few fair points from the both of you, n01scruff, Gérard Houllier did at least win us trophies & get a 2nd place finnish & Rafa did get to 2 European Cup finals winning 1 (My greatest ever football winning memory, as i never watched the ones in 81/84 & wasn't around in 77/78) an FA Cup & within 4 points of our first ever Premier League title & yes other than being a player Graeme Souness is a C*UNT!!!.

groundnpound Houllier's style, Ok wasn't quite as bad as Roy's but still not great & some of the buys were questionable but he did make some quality ones as well, Dietmar Hamann, John Arne Riise, Stephane Henchoz, Sami HyypiaBig Grin, & Gary McAllisterBig Grin although along with Roy Evans he did sign Sean Dundeeeek

Rafa got us to 7 finals winning 4 & a 2nd place finish in the league but on a football basis as you say stubborn & unapproachable as well as the fall out with Xabi Alonso were his downfall, & selling Danny Murphy when not knowing enough about him was pretty silly.

I hate people saying Gerrard won this & Gerrard won that, yes he may've got the final goal on the odd occasion along with his usual performance but take the Olympiakos game for example it was Rafa who brought on Florent Sinama Pongolle who scored our first & then Rafa brought on Neil Mellor who scored the second before setting up Gerrard for what was the crucial goal. The 2005 final he only scored the first it was Vladimir Smicer's goal & the timing of it what was the telling factor.

I will say it's hard to Criticize someone who pays £750 a season to watch the team play the way we have this season especially when i myself don't get to many games due to a mixture of work & moneyRolleyes but still i'm not one of the armchair fans who swamp the phone-ins with silly remarks & suggestions i feel my opinion is pretty valid & more often than not quite accurate especially considering i'm doing my coaching badges & am a pretty good coach for where i'm at at this stage.

Like groundnpound says "Give me a Liverpool side playing good attacking football anyday", but we also wanna challenge for the league as we've only finished 2nd twice & both times we never felt like we were in a title race so this is why i say we need a manager who's already won titles in the last 5 years & if that means getting a pretty conservative (Playing style) José Mourinho then i'm all for it as long as he leaves his the English media love me & i'm gonna milk it to the max attitude in London!!!.

Gerard Houllier's Liverpool signings.

Rafa Benitez Liverpool signings including 45 Surprised youngsters!!!

Yes i did say it would be short & sweet.

RE: Liverpool FC
Houllier and Rafa gave us some good nights. So Respect to them both.Istanbul was the best night of my life and the treble in 2001 was unbelievable.

I didn't like the football we played under them both but some awesome times.

All i wanna see is us playing some attacking, exciting football..With some trophies of course!

Kenny will give us some excitement back.

Let's go and knock the mancs out 2mrw!Come on Reds!
