Handily timed to clash with the hostage release, FZ brought Mustafa Barghouti back for the first time in 15 months, and effectively pitted him against an Israeli podcaster, Haviv Rettig Gur, who confidently expected the three-phase deal won't get to phase two.
Global Public Square
FZ talks to regular Richard Haass about this week's antics in Gaza, but to his credit he also then spoke to Mustafa Barghouti about whether Trump deserves any credit and whether he has any hopes things will work out this time (when they didn't last time, or the time before that).

The Sky at Night - Brits in Space
ESA are training 17 would-be astronauts, and 3 of them are Brits. So Prof Chris gets to talk to the legendary Helen Sharman about her times, whilst Dr Maggie tries out the VR for what life on the ISS is like. Whilst Pete is left in his garden, as ever.

Art's Most...
1/3 Erotic
Waldemar Januszczak returns with a new series, this week covering India, Japan, France, Greece (narratives rather than paintings) and eventually England.

The Listening Post
How Trump supporters taking control of CBS News is another signpost to trouble ahead.

Last Week Tonight, with John Oliver
More on CBS being entrusted to some dumbass called Bari Weiss, whose grasp on truth-telling is even worse than Donald Trump's.

12.2 Si King gets a good mixture to choose from, rugby legend Joe Marler faces the youngest ever contestant, but author Elif Shafak leads to this week's winner, an actual work of art.
PAotY 2025
12.3 Billy Porter gets vibrant and emotional, Emma Barnett doesn't inspire any finalists, whilst James May (like Si King last week) seems to get results that veer between Billy Connolly and Noel Edmonds.

Back to B&W and avowedly British, indeed the British New Wave. Albert Finney played the lead in the stage version, but his understudy got the film gig. Newland back again, but I'm still bemused at the complete lack of any other contribution besides the main four. Still, another entertaining enough series.
CM: The 39 Steps
Blimey, just 4 months since the last series. This (4th) starts with a 1935 chance to laud Alfred Hitchcock again. I've seen the Robert Powell version ("this is no time to hang about" etc) which is fine.
Not that they're churning these out or anything, but Neil now wears glasses, much the most interesting point all show.

Where Strangers Meet
A short profile of Soho from 1951, before it became the lively hotspot it is now. Always amusing to hear vintage shows that talk of humdrum things like spaghetti as weird and exotic.

3/3 Satanic
Probably the most intriguing of the three, as there was a general story (how did the image of the devil develop), and he visited museums and cathedrals to tell the tale. The Victorians, as ever, made things worse for everyone.
