As long as the Tories lose seats across the country, then I'll be happy whenever it happens. As for up here, never been a fan of the SNP, always preferred Lib Dem and Labour, seeing as my local MP's have always been decent people for both of those parties.

Seems implausible to me.
Calling a GE before knowing the results of the local elections, mayoral elections and crime commissioner elections.
I suspect Sunak will cling on grimly to power for as long as he can .

I think he could have taken the opportunity ages ago and call it at the same time as the local ones. (Which I hope sses Tories lose as many seats as possible). If he does hang He probably will go for late August/September to get it done before the new Parliament session. I thik it is more likely the Scottish electiions will happen first. Yousaf is nuts to not to resign as I think he will overwhelmingly lose the no confidence vote.

Mmmm I won't say what my first thoughts were when I saw this but let me just say that if you think an election will be called for when most of the country takes a holiday or when the Party Conferences are on you should not put a bet on it

9 of the last 10 General Elections were held in April, May or June. 2019 was the exception when it was held in December.

The right wing of the SNP hates the Greens because they see them as dragging the country down economically, and fucking up the rural economy in particular. They think, and rightly so, it's going to cost them a lot of votes. The tail wagging the dog was a phrase often used by the likes of Fergus Ewing, Kate Forbes etc.
The problem with the Greens was, they didn't stick to the green stuff. Their move into identity politics, particularly the gender reform bill, was costing the government a lot of support among the wider population.
The Green MSPs absolutely wanted to continue in government. They've never had power like it before and likely never will again. However the decision to remain in government was going to be put to a membership vote, and the membership wasn't happy about the climate targets being scrapped. Basically Humza sacked them before they had the chance to resign.
The climate targets were pie in the sky anyway. The government was told that before they were set, but they had to keep the Greens sweet.

Almost every policy the Greens were responsible for has turned to shit, largely because they wouldn't accept what was realistically achievable, and people were blaming the government as a whole. Not that the SNP themselves have been particularly competent in recent years.

The Greens, to be fair, were trying to do a lot of good stuff. But the way they were going about it was actually turning people against them, and the government.

Only reason the last one was on Decemeber was the whole Brexit bill fiasco and Boris wanted a mandate an election win would bring
