'Boring' technical info.

The tv feed has always been 16:9. The only 'confusion', because it is standard definition, is that it is transmitted as 720*576 non-square pixel with a 16:9 flag. So if you do nothing to the recording you still get 720*576 and a slightly squashed image. The true image is 1024*576.

On the internet there are 3 qualities >> 640*360, 853*480 and 1280*720. All these are pure 16:9 square-pixel with higher bitrates for the larger frames. Select a lower quality and watch full-screen on a larger monitor and you will soon appreciate the poorer quality.

I hardly see them improving the tv quality because that means higher bitrate and higher costs.
