BBC4 started a major new series on Hip-hop. Er, last night (so, iPlayer).

Five had another of those vague shows Greatest Hits of the 70s, a 2-parter in recent weeks. A follow-on, Greatest Hits of the 80s starts Friday (and the following Friday).

Otherwise good news for Muse viewers, Sky Arts have a concert Saturday night, and BBC4 have something the following Friday (19th)

Guitar Star 2016 (er...) is on Sky Arts this early evening, where the eventual winner gets to play at the Latitude Festival. It's a series, I think.

Got through this; really fascinating stuff, and often surprising (i.e. not the same bloody names as usual).

SA are showing The Cure tomorrow night at 9pm.

They're obviously mining the same seam, because this Friday sees them starting a year-by-year tribute to music from the 80s (don't get your hopes up for Iron Maiden or Def Leppard though Wink ) Mick Wall has contributed, that's about as rock as it gets.

This was quite good; I do feel they're a bit like Muse, in that their songs divide into those with obvious titles, and those you couldn't name in a month of Sundays.

Iron Maiden and AC/DC got onto TOTP last night.

Punk fans may wish to see a new doc on X-Ray Spex' Poly Styrene tonight at 9pm. Followed by some repeats of other punk stuff, eg Sex Pistols in concert or something.
