RE: Snooker
Well, he was never gonna win a 2nd world title, was he? Did well to get to 3 finals, was it? Like Dott and Doherty, come to think.

That follow-up album's gotta be a cert now, surely? Wink

Ebdon will be 50 this year,so it's a good time to retire, even if he wasn't injured.

World Snooker Championship: Watch & vote for your shot of the decade - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/52462145

Hmmmmm.
Tough call.
Tempted by Gary Wilsons excellent snooker.
But in the end I voted for Shaun Murphy's audacious reverse side trick shot.
Sorry Doddle Wink

RE: Snooker
They're doing Davis-Taylor this afternoon, followed by a repeat (?) about 40 years etc

RE: Snooker
Not many people know Dennis Taylor won the 1985 world snooker championship.

It's not like he mentions it every 10 minutes he is commentating. laugh

RE: Snooker
I did enjoy it (well, the last 20 minutes anyway). Davis' green and the long brown that Taylor punches in are both shots that top 16 players would be well pleased to manage even these days.

I very much enjoyed the 40 years Crucible program rerun. Having been there myself many times I can fully vouch for what a special place it really is for the sport I love so much. The Cliff Thorburn 147 is still the one moment for me. Started with a fluke, big Bill Werbeniuk peering round the dividing wall and the immortal words of Jack Karnehm "Good luck mate' on the final black.
What an amazing series of dramas have played out in that wonderful arena Heart.

RE: Snooker
Crucible is by far the best sporting venue I’ve been too, being small and somewhat cramped is what makes it so special.

As for the BBC coverage though I’m not sure why they are finishing with Bingham’s final win tomorrow, strange choice.

I think the one sad thing for me is for all his talent, Jimmy White never won the world championship. I think he would have been happy to won it just once.

Before the television era Horace Lindrum took the title to Australia in 1952 after winning an all Australian final!! and looking at Jimmy's record, it was five consecutive finals between 1990 - 1994 and lost the lot, but saying that, John Higgins has reached the last three finals and lost the lot. I am wondering if they would have to look at having just 16 players competing this year just to get the competition done in shorter time frame and behind closed doors. Even in July I don't think it is likely that you will see an audience in the Crucible on screen, unless they have a number restriction to allow for social distancing
