Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?

Is there a underlying virus that is attached (or hidden) within the virus makeup that is causing this symptom off losing either your sense of smell or taste thst so many people are seemingly experiencing? Sometimes I wonder if it's a symptom of the virus that very rarely rears it's head.

So Currys have reported record sales of freezers. I wonder why so many people want a freezer all of a sudden? Oh yes of course, all that food they are stockpiling.

I hope that those who are so greedily stockpiling are eventually stuck with food they can't eat when it it's out of date and freezers stocked with food that will defrost and be unsafe to eat when their extra freezer breaks down and then they will realise the stupidity of stockpiling in thr first and then they will add to the food wastage bill of this country

if they are in tins then they will last for decades lol

dont wish for freezers to break down as most of my stuff is in there and i will starve i havent stockpiled i just buy something extra each shop to put in the cupboard or the freezer in case theres something like a bad winter or im ill and cant get to the shop

Well my first day of self isolation went so well

had some spots on thurs got a big larger on friday yesterday they were larger and covering all round my eye went to Pharmacy the pharmacist said shingles so bascially ended up at the local hospitals walk in centre they were wonderful pity my face looked like the elephant man because the lady doctor I saw was HOT !!!

And for day 2 gotta go to preston A&E to see the eye specialist oh what fun this self isolation is

But in all seriousness if you have a problem and you cant get thru to GP try the pharmacist they know there stuff

Bet you never asked for her phone number either and should have mentioned the babe channels as an alternative career

Did my weekly shop yesterday morning as usual. It's normally nice and quiet and peaceful first thing on a saturday, but this week I came away so traumatised I think I may have PTSD

Absolutely bonkers. The Lidl across the road was so packed they were queuing around the car park waiting to get in.
By the time I got done in sainsburys, the checkout queue was 50 metres long winding around into the frozen section, blocking all the cabinets. Luckily I had smartshopped, so everything was scanned, just had to pay at the self-serve, so wasn't too bad getting through, but the arguments were starting when I left. People getting rowdy about not being allowed to buy more than two items, and about the queue, but you kinda think hang on, the reason it's like this is because of people like you panicing and bulk buying.

I'm on four day weeks starting this week, so I get an extra day to try to get some normal supplies in. Currently making soup for work, since bread for sandwiches is in short supply, along with flour for making bread, so I'm rationing, batch making veggie cottage pies later, some for this week, some for the freezer.

Evidence from elsewhere suggests that this panic mode subsides after a couple weeks as people realise the shelves are actually being refilled so there's no real shortage, so hopefully things will return to some sort of normal, as long as we are allowed out the house still by then!!

Worse news is that my tattooist is stuck at home looking after the kids because of the schools being shut, so no tats ... damn you corona

I really can't stand Boris Johnson and I especially hate it when he not-so-subtly tries to compare himself to Winston Churchill.

But there is one Churchillian expression that I will accept from him when he eventually makes it at the end of this crisis ... "Never was so much owed by so many to so few".

In this case, 'the few' are obviously frontline NHS workers and I don't think the Battle of Britain comparison is the least bit of an exaggeration. But it is also those poor people working for minimum wage in the supermarkets only to be harangued and criticized by the 'many' who can't see that they are doing their best in a brutal situation.

Anyway, I've given up on the large supermarkets and have now found a daily walking route that takes me past a small Co-op and three Tesco metros. By 'grazing' different shops I can normally fill the fridge and cupboards with food for three days at a time.

The only thing that bugs me is the complete inability to find any dry pasta. I'm not the best of cooks and I normally make pasta at least 3-4 times a week. Not finding any, ever, is becoming a real annoyance.

Yeah. Long life food. Disappears off the shelves within minutes of being restocked at most supermarkets I frequent.
