As resigned as I am to this fate, it does kind of bug me that Johnson and his cronies have controlled the narrative to the point that everyone blithely accepts the idea that we are all too 'fatigued' to do things properly and thoughtfully. And I don't think it's a leave or remain issue. Haste and unnecessary urgency is no basis for decision-making.

The number of times I've heard people say something to the effect that they don't even care anymore, as long as it's over ... it's maddening. It's childish. This is the biggest decision that the Government is going to take -- in my name -- in my lifetime. It should take as long as it takes.

Sadly, the whole "just get it done" sloganeering appears to have worked. Repeat it enough times and it just becomes The Truth. It's the Trumpian / Johnsonian world we live in.

Far from it I fear Goodfella!!! The end of the (very) beginning perhaps!! Trade deals. security etc to follow! All that assuming the bill passes all its' stages - far from certain - particularly without countless amendments.

I think Boris is going for the record number of lies he commits at PMQ's and todays was only the 2nd PMQ's he's done!

2 examples from today relating to Brexit

1. "There will be no checks between NI & GB" Err actually Export Summary Declarations will have to be produced

2. "The Scottish Parliament has no role in approving this deal" Well actually the Withdrawal Agreement Bill says there are 17 instances where legislative consent is required

Interesting how even those that you thought were some way short of being capable of serious journalism, can step up now and again, when they get clear of the pernicious clutches of SKY and its borderline irreverent/Irrelevant (News). All this despite the direction of travel the BBC itself has indicated it intends to take, and has carried forward by some of its/our own news presenters/show boaters!

I love these reports which come from 'Downing Street sources' which means that they've come from Boris's puppetmaster Dominic Cummings.

The entire Brexit process (and the outworking thereof) has achieved a greater direction of travel towards UI!! So Cameron, Farage (and the biggest irony of the lot - the DUP) - all of whom would profess to be passionate about the union and its secure future - have served to undermine it!! How did they - or anyone else - think that the border issue would be resolved without doing so?? Certainly in the minds of a large number of Unionists!
