i loved The Sun ones the best and always wondered who it was who did the voice over.

Angel Delight was a favourite of mine loved the strawberry one bst we did have a Vesta dish once and that was it to say the least.

Then I remember the excitement when we got the first spectrum computer, i have to admit my brother and I went through the whole series I think and the games look so retro now but god they wwre a pain to lad sometimes i def want to get the emulator program again 9that's only desktop that is out of action atm, and playing a few of those games again will bring back memories too.

so it's now time for your earliest home computer memories guys...which system you had and what games you played the most or what games you completed...

First home computer - ah yes...it was called the Acorn Electron, very similar to the BBC Micro whereby you used to load games by way of a tape recorder...wow techno or what? Bounce

Games that were played on it - can only remember two games off the top of my head, one was called ‘Chuckie Egg’ the other I think was called ‘Tarzan Boy’...weird how I’m struggling to remember that from 1984, yet my recollections concerning the Space Invaders phenomenon of 1978 are as clear as a bell..

Milfspotter - I had a check to make sure that Tomorrow’s World was before Top of the Pops and sure enough, Tomorrow’s World was on from 6.50 to 7.20 on Thursday nights, then Top of the Pops straight after..

That's how we loaded games on the Speccy too - tape recorder it was often s frustrating when you had to load the other side of the tape and it wouldn't load! 1 think we had only the one joystick as well which worked on the Kempston interface system the controllers today does make that look even ancient!!!

Ha ha the good old Speccy. I still have one with the keyboard(which I think was the first under Amstrad deal) but got loads of tapes still including my favourite SpyHunter(which I can now play via computer using an emulator) I also remember Planetoids, Paperboy, TLL, Chuckie Egg, Manic Miner, Horace series of games and many others. I found and old booklet of the top 50 games and will try and photograph some of the pages and post here.

Babelover the voice over for Sun ads was Christopher Timothy(All creatures great and small)

Who remembers the old Polaroid instant cameras in the 1970s?

Big clunky things with a blue square shaped flash on the top of it. You took the photograph then pulled the picture (which was in a pack film) out of one side of the camera..and you’d literally see the photograph appearing first as a greyish image then slowly the colours would appear.

It was actually really innovative technology for its time.

They were the ultimate accessory for some. you'd be lucky to find one from that time still working these days. probably cost an arm and leg now!!

RE: Memories of Childhood
Had a big Poloroid camera and some years ago we sent it back to Kodak and they sent us a voucher as they were collecting old ones.

Oh yes babelover that is exactly the one I have but I eventually bought it and had it for years -so many games to download and play and a few years ago I got back into writing little programs, some I had written down years ago and some from the original manual you got and a book I bought full of programs to type out.

I remember buying a book for use with the Acorn Electron which had pages and pages of programming code for games and other things.

One time that sticks in the mind involved typing in about 8 pages of code, which took quite a while given the fact that in those days I could only type with one finger...

And what was my reward for my endeavours?

A small square dot bouncing around the screen!!! annoyed

RE: Memories of Childhood
That reminds me of a time one evening when I was young. I decided to stay up a bit longer and I was typing out a program from a magazine Sinclair User I think it was and it took ages and I didn't realise what the time was and it had reached 1am(oops school in the morning) so I finished off and then pressed RUN...and it CRASHED!! It was the next afternoon that I realised I had typed in a 48k program into a 16k computer(as it was at the time) aaaggghhh!! I was furious! I cannot imagine any kids today sitting quietly typing away a load of lines of code and then eagerly awaiting the results. Happy Days! Smile

RE: Memories of Childhood
Two of the best children's programmes around-although some of you were more for the anarchic TISWAS. Hopefully this will bring some memories back.
