You have to fast ahead of a blood test for diabetes? Interesting, as I'm getting to think I should also go for a test for the same thing... Mad thirsts, no energy, slow healing skin blisters... bladewave

Actually sounds like could have it does anyone in your family have it as well most of my mothers side have it and i developed it about 5 years ago

Yeah they give you a fasting blood test to see how much sugar is in your blood even when you havent eaten. can be a bloody nightmare to do one

My mom has type 2 diabetes, I think. She has had diabetes for probably five years or more, where she takes pills for sure. Never bothered to ask if I'm honest.... Which is perhaps bad of me... Sad

I never sit on the fence. I prefer to drop kick it out the way instead! Could possibly be a big fan of wankspangling?

Type 1 is apparently inherited by someone, type 2 is usually diet-related. I hate the fact they call it a disease, because you can't catch it from someone it is just something that attacks your system but it is a silent assassin, you wouldn't know you had it unless a doctor told you. I can be bloody scary but once you're used to the medication YOU control it, not it control you.

^ Firstly, on the subject of type 1 diabetes, genetics can play a large in risk factors of developing it. However i personally know of a couple of cases where type 1 diabetes has been brought on by an extremely stressful event.

Secondly on the subject of type 2 diabetes it can be controlled and then reversed in some cases. It often depends how soon it is diagnosed and the steps you are prepared to address and then deal with the lifestyle factors that caused the condition in the first place.

Hasn't the NHS got enough problems being chronically underfunded without having to spend spare time dealing with 37 variations on the "nurse, I've got this swelling I want you to look at" jokes Surprisedlaugh
