King Kong Lives(1986)

An old school Kong movie and not a very good one either.Built entirely on Kong having heart surgery and needing blood from another member of his species it gets very silly and very tedious quickly.Despite having a decent cast including Linda Hamilton and John Ashton, this is a case of a good director(John Guillerman)making a terrible film.Cited by many as the worst Kong film ever made,I tend to agree.

Jamaica Inn (1938) Maureen O'Hara plays an Irish woman who discovers that the inn of the title, run by her uncle (Leslie Banks) is a base for a gang of criminals who lure ships to the rocks and steal from the wreckages. Not natural Hitchcock territory but fairly watchable and exciting due to the filming of the dramatic Cornish coast, the shipwreck scene and host of character actors, including Robert Newton as a government agent and Charles Laughton as the local squire. Hitch fits in a couple of fine directorial touches too. Also starring Horace Hodges,Hay Petrie,Basil Radford & Marie Ney. 6.5/10

I've not heard of this one, but, being a Hitchcock fan, I'll have to check it out.

I watched Carlito's Way last night. Really enjoyed it. It reminded me, in parts, of Scarface.

The Walk (2015)

Set in 1974, the true story of high-wire artist Philippe Petit (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who recruits a team to help him perform a high-wire walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

Enjoyed this a lot. Highly recommend it.

The Sound Of My Voice(2011) Two investigative reporters(Christopher Denham & Nicole Vicius) infiltrate a cult, whose leader (Brit Marling) claims she is from the future. Decently acted, but rather meandering and uninvolving movie, with the odd better scene. Also starring Davenia McFadden,Kandice Stroh,Richard Wharton & Avery Pohl. 5/10

The Devil Rides Out(1968)

Followers of Satan plan to sacrifice the niece of a Duke.Terence Fisher's classic horror is imaginative with an impressive devil worshipping setpiece. All of it given extra gravitas by the excellent cast that includes,Christopher Lee,Patrick Mower and Paul Eddington.

Sweeney Todd. Depp at his best in a faithful big screen adaptation of Sondheim's classic musical.

The Lazarus Effect 7/10 - never heard of this before but it turned out to be quite a decent watch, a low budget horror in a similar vein to Flatliners but without the a-list cast.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Extended Edition

I preferred this version as it helped to flesh out the story a little all tho making the film a little longer. It looks and sounds great on Blu Ray. Actor Manu Bennett (Deathstroke in Arrow) is the voice of the cgi villain.

9/10.
