The problem is that bidding to host the World Cup in 2026 is starting shortly and if the US want to bid they will have to give a guarantee to FIFA of no travel bans.

This means they have to give a guarantee right now of no travel bans affecting the tournament, not wait until Trump is out of office to provide such an assurance.

Correct, and even Mascherano has admitted that it was a penalty when he scythed down Di Maria in the box at 3-1 with 5 minutes to go.
