Gutted for Hamilton last night Sad Such an amazing story of Hamilton-King final. Trust Pob-face Hawkins to ruin it. I hope King will lose it and head-butt the boring sod in the later stages tonight.

Mark King is the Northern Ireland Open champion after a thrilling 9-8 victory over Barry Hawkins.
King recovered from 5-1 behind to ultimately claim the first major tournament win of his 25 year career.
Many congratulations to him. Victory for the journeyman professional. Very good for the game of snooker.

Amazing match, well done to King turning 1-5 to 7-5, that astonishing penultimate frame, and still having the guts to hold it together until victory. A fitting nod to the over-emotional family man Alex Higgins too.

I can still remember some of Alex Higgins's miracle clearances from yesteryear.
One springs to mind from a Crucible semi final against Jimmy White where Higgins produced a 70 odd clearance with masses of balls on cushions Surprised.
It really was ridiculous snooker Big Grinlaugh.

I remember that clearance well, it was the year Higgins won his second world championship, 1982.

In hindsight, I wish I'd remembered I started a new Home Nations thread for the previous event Sad

Rory McLeod getting some pub. today for being the only black player on tour for the past 15 years. I guess World Snooker will point to that Brazilian bloke, and the Iranian one, not to mention the legions of Chinese & Thai lads, to counter any accusations of racism.
