Crash and Burn(1990)

The future is far from rosy in this Charles Band produced, sci fi effort. The ozone layer has depleted and a totalilitarian government is running the US,complete with robo-watchmen.As with Band's other film which tried to cash in on the success of RoboCop,Robot Jox(1989),stop motion cyborgs, very similar to ED-209,indulge in battles. Not as much fun as Robot Jox,again it was a film that had big ambition but,no budget to fulfill it.

Heart Of Glass(1976) In a 18th century Bavarian village, the death of the lead glass blower takes away the secret of making the beautiful ruby glass & leads to discord & disharmony.Meanwhile, the lead character ponders the death & rebirth of the Earth. A slow paced film with a slow style of acting (this is because director Werner Herzog hypnotised some of the cast!) . Not an easy sell, but it has some things going for it, superb cinematography, especially the night scenes & an interesting soundtrack (light opera, some yodelling & an amazing prog rock/Kraut Rock track at the beginning). What it is about, probably life & death, probably how things can collapse when change occurs, likely a mixture of both. 6/10

Gog(1954)

"..and then, without warning, the machine became a Frankenstein of steel!!".So ran the tagline on the poster of this low budget but very well put together sci fi thriller from director Herbert L.Stock.Well worth a watch and much better than the most of the other films in the saturated market of robot films in this era.

Ida(2013) In 1960s Poland, a nun, ready to take her vows, visits her aunt and learns some shocking family secrets & something of the outside world. Shot in a suitable black and white as its Communist Poland, beautifully framed and despite its slowness, not really a wasted moment in its 1hr 20 min running time. Agata Kulesza as the aunt & Agata Trzebuchowska as the nun underplay it very well. Also starring Dawid Ogranik 7.5/10

the Korean one was great, not seen the remake. preferred the original ring film to the remake.

lord of the rings fellowship of the ring and two towers. 9/10 i can understand why it took so long to do with the sfx. there are changes from book to film, for example the beginning of the film is actually part of the meeting when Frodo volunteers to take the ring. aragon gets the sword at the start of the quest and the banner before getting the undead, it is 30 rangers arriving at helms deep with the elves who then ride through dunhorrow on to the pirate ships minor details, it still tells the main storylines of the book, the cast were great i think andy Serkis needs more recognition for his work has Gollum.

Top 5 Celebs To Be On The Channels: Molly Quinn, Stana Katic, Nina Dobrev, Susanna Reid, Steph McGovern

Cannibal Holocaust(1980)

Shot in the rainforests of the Amazon using indigenous people as the cannibals. The film is about a team making a documentary who are captured and eaten, using the now overdone "found footage" technique that shows us what happened in explicit detail.36 years after its release,Ruggiero Deodato's film is still disgusting to watch and remains controversial.
