Blood : The Last Vampire(2009)

Directed by Chris Nahon,a live ction remake of the anime film with the same title, this Honk Kong/French/British coproduction is notable only for its star Gianna Jun,who makes a very credible, half human vampire slayer.

Brazil(1985)

Terry Gilliam's dark comedic look at the future is equal parts funny and horrific. The scenes satirizing cosmetic surgery will be etched in your mind forever after you've watched it.

The Hangover Part II (2011) The buddies regroup for a wedding for Stu (Ed Helms) in Thailand but again things go wrong in this occasionly amusing comedy. One of the main problems is the annoying Zach Galifianakis character, was he so annoying in the first film? The Helms character gets steadily louder and wearying too, so I was quite pleased when it ended, nothing in it matches the first film 5/10

Gunfight At The OK Corral (1957) A well filmed version starring Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp and Kirk Douglas as Doc Holliday, enjoyable despite several historical inaccuracies, for instance the gunfight itself, though excitingly filmed lasts about five minutes, in reality it lasted less than a minute. The relationship between Holliday and his prostitute lover(very well played by Jo Van Fleet) is nicely done, but the one between Earp & Laura Denbow(Rhonda Fleming) just seems like a dramatic device. Also starring DeForest Kelley as Morgan Earp with John Ireland as Johnny Ringo 7.5/10

I have now caught up with my film reviews so I should in future be reviewing one film per day.

The Abominable Snowman(1957)

Classic Hammer horror with Peter Cushing. An intrepid American adventurer and a British scientist lead an expedition to the Himalayas hoping to find the legendary yeti.Well filmed with suprisingly good creature effects. Also starring Forest Tucker who puts in a solid performance.

The Face of An Angel(2014)

Michael Winterbottom's "inspired by the Meredith Kercher murder trial" drama is not the salacious gawp that epithet suggests.Keeping the ongoing investigation at arms length and instead, focusing on reaction from the media. No answers are offered but, more questions will be asked and more conversations will be started by this interesting take on a fascinating true story.Featuring wonderful and very human performances from Daniel Bruhl and Cara Delevingne.

Bend Of The River(1952) Directed by Anthony Mann, James Stewart stars in this clever western as he plays a cowboy with a past who elects to help homesteaders with their winter supplies. The first where Stewart was able to show a dark side, he's matched by the excellent Arthur Kennedy. Also starring Rock Hudson, Jay C Flippen and Julie Adams 7/10
