I thought Top Gear made a huge profit - so it shouldn't be anything on the license fee.

The original top gear made a huge profit, I doubt the new version will do as well, especially with original trio launching a show on Netflix.

LeBlanc's commitment to the show would seem to be a couple of months and TG will likely have to be in post-production by April as he is scheduled to be filming Extras at that time it states.

Last location filming to be in South Africa in early March.
LeBlanc on £500,000 salary "with more than half of that to be paid for by BBC Worldwide".
Top Gear live events will continue but not known who will take part.

Additional thought: This will do nothing to counter the Daily Mail type argument that BBC is all too often an over-staffed jolly boys outing.

It could also be said that the above line up is a recreation of the old farts trio plus three new tokens (in the name of race, sex and global commercialism). The new TG will have to go some to cast off such lazy definitions.

Evans is 6' 2" though, so he was always likely to be the tallest presenter on the show.
