RE: Sin TV - General Chat & Discussion
Given the shrinking of the adult TV market on Sky, surely slots in that section of the EPG are easy to get these days? Why wouldn't a new adult channel just go to Sky and get their own slot?

If (and that's a BIG IF) SinTV start up again they will find it very hard to get models of the caliber of Lilly Roma, Karina Currier, Tiffany Chamber, Jada, Ruby Summers, etc to join them.

If they were looking to sell the channel slot, I don't see why they would be broadcasting again. I wouldn't think broadcasting makes the slot any more sellable, a channel slot is a channel slot whether it is currently in use or not.
Also, the fact they are broadcasting, even if only pre-recorded shows, suggests they must have some sort of base of operations again. Why bother getting a new base and setting the equipment up if they are just going to sell the slot.

Unfortunately you are wrong on both counts.

EPG slots are not easy to get, otherwise Sin TV would not have had to buy a slot from Studio 66 in the first place. Also, Red Light Central would not be currently off air if EPG slots were easy to come by, as they have said they are actively looking to return to the EPG as soon as possible.

Secondly, it's not possible to go to Sky and get an EPG slot directly, unless you are looking for a HD channel and none of the babe channels are currently broadcasting in HD. Even applying for an HD channel would not give you an immediate EPG slot, but would just get you added to the queue.

RE: Sin TV - General Chat & Discussion
^^ So there is absolute proof that s66 sold that slot ? If they were selling they surely would have gone earlier than they did and Sin could have started sooner and, maybe, had a better chance.

More likely IMO that they gave it up, with notice to Sky, to shrink their activites. As did RLC, Xpanded etc.

An EPG slot is just a reference to the frequency. Several channels have had their frequencies changed over the past few months including s66 but these changes are masked by the slot and your digi-box gets updated automatically. The old frequency for 942 was still active yesterday when I checked although it just showed a digital clock. Sin, while still being on 942, is now on another frequency.

Why would S66 have wanted Sin to have a better chance? Wink "Oh you're coming in to take our customers away? Here, how can we help you do that?"

^^ But then why would they sell the EPG slot to a potential rival ?

Methinks you mis-understood my message.

IMO the notion that a EPG slot has any worth is nonsense. But by all means justify it with examples and proof.

EPG Slots are very valuable, since to launch an SD channel you have to buy from someone else who currently has one and cannot get a new one from sky directly. There are only finitely many SD epg slots since the older SD boxes have less memory can cannot have any new channels added, which is why since the past 10 years or so EPG slots have become very valuable.

Because the slots they had weren't 'their' slots. They belonged to Playboy who preferred to do business with Xpanded instead.
