I suppose a book will now be started to see how long this new manager lasts after this home result today.

As disappointed as I am with the pathetic performance today, I don't think his future has changed in any way whatsoever solely based on todays game, however if results don't improve and United find themselves chasing the final CL spot then I feel there might be more pressure put on him.

Scholes mentioned the lack of signings, naming kroos and fabregas specifically as two players united missed out on Sad

What Scholes said was the manager and the board should be asked why those players such as Kroos and Fabregas were not brought in..

Did it not occour to him that Fabregas or Kroos might not have wanted to join a terrible United team?.. You were poor last season, you have lost even more experienced players, most of your defence, not replaced them before the season started, that to me is poor management.

Replaced a manager with 10 or more years of premier league experience with one who's more obsessed with himself than the team and to me sounds pretty clueless about the premier league in all his interviews so far...

Moyes had a more successful start than 'LVG'...

Uh huh, how does that contradict what I said? Board and the manager = United. Not brought in = Missed out on. Don't see what you're getting at....

Correct, they might not have wanted to join for various reasons, but I don't think its to do with United having one disappointing season-if it is, its a pretty shit reason.

Yep you're right about the lack of attention given to the defence, I'm not a fan of the 3-5-2 system so I'd have wanted to seen at least one cb brought in to replace vidic and used in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation.

Oh lord, you sound like Brendan Rodgers. Remind me of what Rodgers has actually won? Yeah I thought so. Say what you want about van gaals personality, I don't care about that, he has the pedigree of managing top teams and a proven record so shush.

The end of the season is more crucial than the start.

Did I say anywhere it did?...

I wasn't even arguing with you, I was just saying what scholes said and added my thoughts, not once did I mention you or refer to you in that post or say you were wrong? Feel free to tell me if I did though..

Stop assuming I am speaking to you..

All I was saying is was from the way scholes was talking it was as if he thought that if united tell a player they want to sign them then thats it, the player will automatically have signed up, and nowhere did he think that a lack of champions leage and a weak squad had anything to do with missing those players rejecting United..

As for 'LVG' He has managed some good teams. That is the problem for you, he has managed good teams. He has taken over good teams, already playing good football and added to them, he has not taken over a team in decline like United before, lets see how well he does shall we..

RE: Manchester United FC
If nothing else this defeat shows the need for two class defenders and another central midefielder. After last seasons fiasco in the transfer market CEO Ed Woodward needs to have a word with the Glazers to make sure the much needed signings are made. Still early days but if we go another season without qualifying for Europe then we stand to have a 30% cut from Adidas. If nothing else a loss of income will make them sit up and take action hopefully.

RE: Manchester United FC
Is the cut from the Adidas deal based on United qualifying for the CL? or is Europa included?

Yep, you're right.

Manchester United must return to the Champions League before the end of the 2016-17 season or face the prospect of a 30 per cent reduction in their £75 million-a-year kit deal with Adidas.

The potential revenue to Adidas from advertising if United were to qualify and perform well in the CL is the spur here. Something that the Europa just wouldn't attract.
United have to buy top quality players to stand a chance of being competitive. The only way we will attract star players this season is to overcome their desire for glory by appealing to their greed. The fact is the club has been badly directed for the last two or three seasons with too much reliance on short term strategies. The fact we were still playing Scholes and Giggs and not actively looking to replace them several seasons ago was a sign. Van Gaal is undoubtedly a top manager who can bring the best out of players but his arrogance aside, he needs some quality if he is to succeed.
