Wiggins would have been too disruptive. There's no way he would act as back up to Froome.

Why the course doesnt suit wiggins. Richie porte did an outstanding job last year as No2 to froome and with a fully fit Geraint Thomas should do well you see they way they took time out of Contador on this stage and i reckon come the mountain stages he will take more time out of him and with Quintana not there those stages are wide open

I see ITV did an interview with David Millar shown over several parts starting on tonight's highlights programme. Will be interested to see what he has to say about his doping ban

Would have been like having Contador and Armstrong in same team, 2 riders who both thought they should have been no 1 rider, splitting the team as happened in 2009

You definitely don't want two team-mates with a bit of needle between them...

I can't understand why one of the teams is allowed to ride in yellow sponsor-colour jerseys. It makes spotting the real maillot jaune a bit hit or miss in a big group.

Alberto Contador has just abandoned the Tour now.
