I read that earlier, Blatter is a joke, he can't be arsed to get his hands dirty to solve the issue of racism, sooner he pops his clogs the better.

RE: Football Banter
I sometimes wonder if some people look outside of the Premier League on thus forum.

Saunders out of his depth ? You're kidding right. The bloke was a pretty decent footballer in his time for starters and played under some good coaches.
His managerial CV looks pretty decent as well. He was doing a great job at Wrexham before he joined Doncaster. He couldn't save them from relegation in the end granted but they were in the shit when he joined. He has now left them in fantastic shape. Joint top of League 1 and a much better squad then last season. Saunders, given time, has proven himself to be a decent young manager so to suggest he's "out of his depth" is a joke. Wolves were punching well above their weight competing in the Premier League as it was. McCathy was doing a great job but with the limited side it was only a matter of time. The playing squad needs some hefty investment.

I still remember that prat on here who said Steve Clarke was an awful appointment for West Brom, probably blowing bubbles up his arse now I imagine.

I stand by everything I said. If Saunders does well and proves me wrong then I will happily hold my hands up and say sorry I was wrong.
Time will tell as to whether I am right or wrong.
For me this is a crisis too big for Saunders and he will be out of his depth imo.
As I say I could be proven wrong but I doubt it Wink.

I also have to disagree with any assertion that McCarthy was doing a 'great job'.
This is the guy who thought signing Roger Johnson and making Jamie O'Hara a permanent signing would be enough to solve all of Wolves's acute on pitch problems throughout the first two seasons in the Premier League. Every conceivable footballing cardinal sin was committed over and over again more and more often under the stewardship of McCarthy while Wolves were in the Premier League. His ventures into the transfer market during this period were abysmal failures with decent money to spend. After that second escape from relegation when Wolves lost 3-2 in their last home game to Blackburn it was obvious to everyone but Morgan and McCarthy that major restructuring of the squad was required.
That action was not taken and the inevitable relegation to the Championship that I expected all along came to pass with a further increase in regularity of major errors all over the pitch. I maintain my belief no progress was made during all the time Wolves were in the Premier League. McCarthy wasted what money he was given and Morgan got his club strategy all wrong and has made a dogs breakfast of hiring and firing of managers. I simply do not accept McCarthy was doing a great job.
Too few on field deficiencies were addressed and too much money wasted on poor footballers resulting in no progress being made.

RE: Football Banter
I wouldn't go as far to say as he's 'out of his depth' because none of us know that until after he's presided over some games. But I repeat my view from earlier - there are more obvious and suitable contenders for the job in my opinion.

Money_Shot I'm sorry but I don't share your enthusiasm with Saunders. Us Wolves fans are extremely disillusioned and depressed at the moment. We know the board's track record in recent times of strange appointments and a perceived lack of face and knowhow:-

- "One thing is clear - this is not a job for a novice". - Jez Moxey on the potential replacements for Mick McCarthy. So they scrap Steve Bruce and put in Terry Connor who'd never managed before in his life. The inevitable happens and we slip out of the Premier League with a disgraceful whimper. Rolleyesannoyed

- Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey both conveniently deciding to miss the Ipswich game when they knew Mick McCarthy would be back in town. Rolleyes

We've been lied to and lied to and lied to by this Wolves board. You'll have to forgive us for being a little bit terrified. I just think the heart is being ripped out of my club. This is the worst I've known it for a long time. It's about time the players snapped out of their relegation hangover and showed some guts too. Their performances have been a joke for at least a whole year now.

If Saunders works out, I'll be the first to hold my hands up at the end of the season. No problem with that.

If.... Sad

I probably should have thought through my post better then I did. I don't know the in's and out's of Wolves like both Rengerated and Snookered do. I can't argue about the board level shenanigans as I know little about them, but I will say give Saunders a chance.

Fingers crossed he keeps them up in the Championship. I enjoyed my trip to Wolves for the first game this season. Saunders will have the added advantage of knowing the players first hand from lower divisions who will possibly do a job for you if they can step up. To many cheap imports are brought in with the hope they can work out when there is some good players in the leagues below, if a little more expensive. If Saunders does find some gems in the lower leagues at least they won't be afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in Cool

RE: Football Banter
Well there are from what I've seen a lot of good young players in the lower leagues - this FA Cup weekend showed that, with all the non-league sides boasting some very good players (Barnes-Homer for Macclesfield, Gray for Luton, Green for Mansfield). If we can get some new faces in from the football league, ship out the charlies who don't want to be here, promote the academy youngsters a bit more instead of shipping 'em out on loan, well then perhaps the grey clouds will lift...

... at least until Morgan / Moxey drop another bollock. Wink

I'll say no more until after the first game on Friday. Now if Hannah'sPet's lot will do us a favour and put a few own goals in on Friday - that would be a nice start. Wink

Because I can't see any of our own players being bothered to score. Sad
