All they have bought him for is to fill the gap sturridge left to make the numbers up. If he wanted regular football why did he not stay at newcastle? Not so long ago he was saying how much he loved newcastle and playing there...

What's he gone there for? Simple. A chance to play in the Champions League (if they finish top 4) a chance to compete for a title, and a chance to potentially win trophies.
He is a proven Premier League striker and Chelsea currently are very light up front. All it'll take is an injury to Torres he'll be given his chance. If he takes that chance, or his chances in the 10-15 minutes he might find himself in the first team regularly.

Let's be honest, Drogba was hardly known as a world beater was he? He'd had a decent season and Chelsea brought him at an over inflated price.

Ba isn't getting any younger and a bit of a read up in to his background will tell you this bloke has done things the hard way. He got turned away from Barnsley once upon a time! With all due respect to Newcastle, if any of the top sides come in for one of their players, they are going to seriously consider any offer.

You can throw facts and figures at me all day long, im not interested in them, my point is Ba is going to chelsea to probably spend his time sat on his backside on the bench, yes chelsea might have more chances of winning things, so what?, look at lukakku last season, it's players like him I respect, when they won the champions league, he spent most the time on the bench and then after they won he refused to touch the trophy or celebrate with the rest of the team or wear his medal because he said he didn't feel like he was part of it or earnt it, he wanted to play football week in week out and earn his money so he went out on loan to west brom, and look what he's helping them achieve this season, to me that shows more heart and desire than Ba pretty much running away from a situation of a team going through a rough patch and showing a little fight to help a club which he claimed he loves playing for, newcastle offered him a new contract and he wouldnt sign it, obviously he'd rather be a bit part player and glory hunter than show a bit of backbone and fight and earn his money. He certainly wont be playing in champions league or europa foe chelsea this season as he's cup tied, and when chelsea go and bring in big names in the summer he's just going to drop further and further down the pecking order, then who's going to want him? I think his career is slowly going to take a downhill turn from here.

This is total bollocks!!! It's just your hard-nosed opinion you’re trying to force on people. Demba Ba is a goal scorer & proven, his record wherever he's been is very good.

Who wouldn't take an opportunity like this in their job, a chance to see if/show you can do it at the highest level. He's in the prime of his career, I don't know how bad his knee is, he does & will know at 27 the next contract he signs is the last at the top of his game.
At £7m it's a snip for Chelsea given he's proved he can score goals in the Premier League.

You can't tell me you'd have a different opinion on the situation if Liverpool signed Michu???

Depending on Chelsea's intentions for Ba, for £7.5m it's a great signing. If he's given a genuine oppurtunity of establishing himself as our no.1 striker ahead of Torres, then he'll do that before the end of the season, and could potentially save us having to shell out another £50m on Falcao.

But, if he's just been bought to sit on the bench and play second fiddle to Torres then he could be a bit of a disruptive player to have on the books. I remember Ba saying he was angry when left on the bench against Everton earlier in the season and from what I can tell meant that Pardew felt he couldn't rotate Cisse and Ba (like WBA do with Lukaku/Long, which I think would've been more effective), but instead play them both every week in a formation that doesn't suit them. So hopefully Demba will be given a chance to prove himself

Even if he has moved for money, if I was a footballer with knees decribed as "ticking time-bombs" I'd wanna make as much money as possible while I could. By the way, your club's just bought Sturridge, and if you ask any Man City fan about him they'd probably tell you the same thing your saying about Ba Wink

You can guarantee chelsea will spend big money on strikers in the summer, regardless of Ba's performance this season, abramovich spent 50mil on torres who he wont drop, a lot of the point's you make are true, which is why I wouldn't want Ba at my club.

With regards to Sturridge When he was at man city and chelsea both big money clubs he was seen as second fiddle im guessing, when he went to bolton his attitude was fine, he was playing and scoring regularly, I don't think he would move to liverpool if it was big money he is after as we don't tend to give out big wage packets, i think he genuinely wants play regular football.

Goal of the season?

I think Baines is one of the best free kick takers in the world, but more importantly for Everton one of the best left backs in the world.

I think so dan, I've long been a fan of Leighton Baines. There's been more than a few words said in the media about Obertan turning away from the ball and therefore letting it go straight through the wall. Maybe so, but at the end of the day it's still a remarkable talent for dead balls that Baines has. Ian Harte is another player who I remember for having a similar talent at dead balls.

I'm probably in the minority here, but many people see Ronaldo as the best free taker in the world, but I don't see that to be honest.

Yes when he gets his free kick technique right, its great to see, but a lot of the time I see him blaze it over the bar, hit the wall and not trouble the goalkeeper too often.

I like players like Baines, Beckham or Juninho, who most of the time take near perfect free kicks and always look like they will trouble the goalkeeper.

Ian Harte is another very good free kick taker and just a couple of days ago against Spurs, he hit a lethal free kick off the bar, but at least another Reading player managed to score the rebound in.
