It would be a waste of time surely, as Ofcom's broadcasting code only covers broadcast material. Ofcom only invite the public to contact them if they feel that something broadcast has breached the broadcasting code.

^^^ That's not correct. Ofcom govern every aspect of broadcasters' behaviour and not just what they broadcast.

This includes premium rate phone calls - remember the Richard and Judy scandal when people were phoning in to answer competition questions, yet the competition had already closed? Callers were still charged premium rates and Ofcom threw the book at ITV.

There are many other instances, such as quiz TV channels being castigated by Ofcom for malpractice.

Well according to media reports the problems with phone in competitions on ITV were regarded by Ofcom as the broadcasting of misleading content and consequently ITV were fined because it was found to have "totally disregarded" Ofcom's broadcasting code.

RE: Babeshows - General Chat & Discussion
There were a series of incidents. In one an awards ceremony pre-precorded handing out awards about 20 minutes before phone lines closed. ITV were fined a total of £4,000,000, and must have taken money from millions of people. By most peoples standards having far and away the largest fine and having financially affected millions of viewers would have made them far worse offenders than a late night adult letting a small self selecting audience see 1 second of fanny, but strangely ITV were not threatened with having their licences revoked while babe channels are constantly harassed.

Phonegate wasnt discovered because Ofcom subjected a new money making scheme to scrutiny, as a regulator should, but because of whistleblowers.

Ofcom covers broadcast competitions including phoneins. To some extent it also covers phone votes and adverts for phone services. ICTIS covers actual phone services, like those friendly young women inexplicably lonely at home with 0982 phone numbers. Must go now, I need to phone a friend.

Yes all I can say is thank fuck for the legend that is Lori Buckby, apart from the Babestation channels and Jennifer Jade ofcourse on RLC the rest have been pretty lame.

In particular Studio 66 has been the lamest of the lot. Just as well they changed their name as they are anything but fucking elite laugh

Eccles you make some very good points but I fail to see what it has to do with regards to the babeshows general discussion thread. I like to discuss ofcom as much as the next man as you know Rolleyes but really it has to be in the right section unless it has any actual relevance to the channels or subject matter at hand.

Try reading the last page or so of posts and you will see that Eccles post was in response to the discussion being had in this very thread, which makes it very relevant to this thread.

I'm sure the mods will intervene if they feel the discussion is drifting too far off topic.

Yes because broadcast competitions are broadcast material. Reading a Guardian report just now, I see that for some of the phonein competitions investigated ITV were cleared of wrongdoing by Ofcom, as in those cases despite some complaints being made they were found not to have broken the broadcasting code.

Since the Babeshows are now classified as Tele Shopping channels, I believe any complaints about paying for and not receiving what they advertise should be made to ASA not ofcom. (The description by Geri and others of the BSX show having no rules or limits springs to mind)

Of all the members of this forum that watch the babestations on a regular basis, what percentage would actually call the shows? Surely at the premium rates that are charged it is going to be a very small minority. Because I for one would find it impossible to find that sort of money, especially when money is so tight.
