on the topic of newcastle, really dont get pardew's thinking this summer because they worked hard last season to achieve a european place yet it seemed he either was adamant the squad didnt need more players or ashley was restricting him from buying. Of course they are missing cabaye and now ben arfa but still they shouldnt have a thin bare squad like that

Duno if this is exagorated but reports in spain claim vilanova has had a relapse of a salivary gland which will mean his leaving barca on a temporary basis, hope the guy gets better

Yes, apparently they put a news blackout before the official announcement later, which makes it sound pretty serious.

First thought I had was will this tempt Guardiola to go back, even if its only temporary. He seems reluctant to take the Chelsea job, not surprising given Abramovichs itchy trigger finger, so heading back to Barca for a spell may give him time to weigh up his options and wait for a worthy opening, maybe Fergusons eventual retirement in another season or two, or even Wenger moving aside at some point, or else one of the big Italian jobs.

I think both Pardew and Ashley both fucked up in the summer transfer window.

It was obvious where we needed to strengthen in the squad and we spent a long time chasing Debuchy and Douglas, but we wouldn't stump up the extra million or two to complete the signings. If we were unable to buy them then we should have made plans to buy other players if we failed to get our top transfer targets, which we failed in doing so. If we made those signings then I think we would have been able to get a top 8 finish this season or at least challenge for it. We have a good first team if it is set up right, but if we get injuries or suspensions then we really suffer in terms of results and performances, which we have seen this season.

Now that the January transfer window is just around the corner, I doubt we will be in a position to attract a player of Debuchy's quality. I still have hope we can sign Douglas and there are reports that we are in with a chance of signing Loic Remy, as a replacement for Ba. The good thing about the potential of signing Remy is that he is capable of playing on the wing, but his best position is a striker.

I would be surprised if Guardiola went back to Barcelona, as he seems committed to his year long break from football.

Although he is good friends with Vilanova, so he you never know, he may just go back to Barcelona to help Barcelona and his friend out.

Apparently though, Barcelona assistant Jordi Roura will take over the coaching duties this weekend in Barcelona's league game versus Valladolid.

I hope Vilanova makes a full recovery from this, as he seems like one of the nicest guys in football.

Sky sports website had the story on remy so maybe the interest is real, still think u guys can get debuchy as Lille ain't exactly challenging for anything so if he handed a transfer request it would help lol, still think marseille will demand atleast 15-18mill though for remy as they are well placed still to win their league so Ashley will say no
