The Wild Geese -9/10 a real guilty pleasure but one of my all time favourite movies. An action packed war movie starring some of the biggest stars of the 70s ( Roger Moore, Richard Burton, Richard Harris and Hardy Kruger ) along with a few other cameos. I first saw this movie back in 1978 and it still stands the test of time even now.

The next film i will be upgrading to Blu ray.

The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey really good first film from the famous book the hobbit. brilliant special effects, good performances from all the cast and a good mix of characters familiar to those whove seen the lord of the rings films (gandalf, elrond, galadriel) and characters from the hobbit book. like the lord of the rings films it is around the 3 hours mark but doesnt matter at all

good ending which sets up the next hobbit film

8/10

The Amazing Spiderman 6/10 - this was a real disappointment i was expecting far more from this latest reboot. Andrew Garfield made for a less than convincing superhero, more like a sulky teen and Rhys Ifans was a poor substitute for Doc Oc. Good special effects do not always make for a good movie.

I watched this again last night and enjoyed it more than the first time I saw it. I personally thought Garfield gave a decent performance in the role and was closer to the comic character of Peter Parker. He was certainly much better than the insipid Toby Maguire, who lets face it as a spider would probably have lost to the fly in a fight!
I would certainly say that it could have been better and felt that the editing knife had been brandished in places, especially at the end where the cops get turned into lizards....and then nothing more is made of it.
I have to say I enjoyed it overall, though I do agree that Rhys Ifan was fairly uninteresting as the bad guy. I have a feeling the next movie will be better as they will not be going over the same boring territory of how Parker becomes Spiderman. These sort of films need to have an edgy, dark side to them too, like the Dark Knight trilogy in my opinion. Still it would be a very boring place if we all had the same thoughts and tastes.

Licence To Kill, one of my fav and unrated Bond films. Not only was this the first 15 rated Bond but it was one of the first realistic Bond films with dark tone but with a proper villain a drug baron at the time of its release people weren't ready for the film as it was a darker tone it didn't do as well and when it first got released it was re-edited when it came out in the states, its only after years that Licence To Kill is getting the credit that it deserves looking at the Bond films now its so much like Casino Royale and if it wasn't for this film we wouldn't have the darker Bond films we have now. This was to Timothy Dalton's last Bond film which was a shame as he was a great Bond in my eyes and Robert Brown's last performance as M. Original the title was called Licence Revoked but it was changed to Licence To Kill as the american's didn't understand the title and a great Bond theme from Gladys Knight was awesome and it was the first Bond film not to have title based on Ian Fleming's novel or short stories.
9/10.
