Just because he worked with Mourinho it does not make him a good manger, when clubs are looking for a new manager they draw up a short list and go for their main target first and are quite prepared to pay compensation to get their man. We always look for the cheapest option possible, whether it be players or coaching staff. I wanted Houghton, Ranieri or maybe even Poyet but not an unproven number 2.

hopefully steve clarke wont turn out to be a steve kean. clark seems to be a good tactian as well the only problem is how astute he is in the transfer market.

swansea are after michael laudrup, desailly has been linked to the job as well, others include are bergkamp, poyet, di canio, karl robinson. huw jenkins, swansea chairman, seems to like selecting managers that are not obvious and turn out to decent ones. martinez, now at wigan, paulo sousa and brendon rodgers, now liverpool, earned swansea £10m in compo.

2 year contract? not too much compensation to pay when he sacked in january.

At least the chairman is planning ahead.

So your telling me it was avram grant who got chelsea to a pen kicks away from champions league the other year

you never know he might be good its up to small clubs to take a chance he might turn out to be another mark hughes or brenden rogers paul lambert

After last season we had a chance to improve the team and consolidate ourselves in the premiership, appointing a proven manager would have been a statement of intent, instead we got a NUMBER 2! in every sense of the word. Why would any decent player want to come to a second rate backward thinking club like ours now.

the only reason Money there is only one reason why players come to teams like us and your lot and thats money so its older players looking to get one more payday and also kids who want a chance to play to then get transfered to a top flight club

Man United could sign another good Borussia Dortmund player, striker Robert Lewandowski for 15 million and this is according to the Polish manager
