Anyone know the current position of the Typhoon that is supposedly threatening to disrupt the race? I think crucially for me this has to be the race Lewis needs to win to put daylight between himself and Rosberg and if Mercedes win with a 1-2 will they wrap up the constructors championship today?

But there are serious concerns regarding Bianchi. "His car appeared to collide with a recovery vehicle that was removing an earlier crash involving Adrian Sutil of Sauber.The driver is not conscious and has been sent to the hospital by the ambulance because the helicopter cannot fly in these conditions"

hope bianchi is ok after his very serious accident. haven't watched the race properly yet as wasn't up in time but did catch the end so cant comment yet on whether I think the race should have gone ahead.

apparently the fia did put forward the option of starting the race early to avoid the very conditions but the race organisers said no and would keep the race at it's original start time

Things don't look good for the young lad. At best his career is over, obliviously the worst case scenario is that he doesn't make it. My thoughta are with Jules Bianchi.

I don't know what it is with Marussia cars and sidetrack vehicles. Not the first time this incredibly freakish accident has happened with a Marussia involved after Maria De Vellotta crashed into a sidetrack vehicle in a test session 4 years ago. She survived but did lose sight in one eye. Sadly she died 2 years after a seizure which was linked to the heavy head injuries she received.

too early to say bianchi's career is over. wait and see what the doctors say where he is being treated. at the very least he wont be racing at the next race in russia

Rammy is correct, we know nothing about Bianchi's condition so speculation over his future is premature if not distasteful. Niki Lauda and Felipe Massa were both written off by many after their accidents.

What disturbs me is the confusion over the Helicopter. The FIA Press Delegate stated that the Medevac Chopper was grounded due to the weather, but now we are told that a road Ambulance was used following medical advice.

The legal implications of that statement are potentially huge as the F1 regs are clear that a race cannot start if the Primary and Backup Helicopters are unavailable with the weather being stated as an example.

so could the result be declared technically void with that legal complication?

Bianchi''s father has told the French media that his condition is critical and that he has been operated on.

Statement released says Bianchi has a serious head injury thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and all of F1 one wonders in the light of this accident if racing in Russia should be suspended

No, the result will stand, the legal issues would come into play with any official investigation. There are unconfirmed reports that the Japanese Police have seized the wreckage of the car.

Other reports suggest that the FIA asked Honda (they own Suzuka) twice if the race could be run earlier and were told that it wasn't necessary.
