New Zealand never recovered from a slow start as England's opening bowling was excellent again. It took New Zealand 18.4 overs to reach 50, but when England batted they reached 50 in only 10 overs.

First test today and New Zealand have won the toss and put England into bat. England have Panesar in the side and not Swann. Conditions look bowler friendly but the start has been delayed by bad light.

England may have caught a break by bad light preventing a prompt start.They wanted to bat first anyway as the pitch looks ok for batting.The weather is set to improve later in the day.
