BBC 1 on Saturday night from 1971 to 1977..

Then from 1978...

All those catchphrases:
"Anthea give us a twirl!"
"Didn't he/she do well?"
"Could be a big night if you Play Your Cards Right!"
"Let's look at the old scoreboard"
"Good game, good game!"
"Nice to see you, to see you...NICE!"
"Doddery I am NOT!"
"Let's meet the eight, who are going to generate!"

Larry Grayson was the chauffeur that drove Meg Richardson to church when she got married in Crossroads! He had his own catchphrases
"Seems like a nice boy" "Ooh, look at the muck in here" "Well, what a gay day!" and "Let's see the names on the frames" of course "SHUT THAT DOOR!"
When Bruce Forsyth quit the Generation Game to move to ITV for his ill-fated "Big Night" show (remember that?) he was more than a bit miffed that Larry Grayson's Generation Game was absolutely hammering the Big Night in the ratings. One week more than 25 million viewers tuned in to watch Larry Grayson's show..
From Anglia...

Goodie Goodie yum yum...

Lad I knew in Junior School absolutely cursed the existence of that show..

Having the surname Goodwin gave rise to the initial nickname of ‘Goody’ which then became ‘Goody Goody Yum Yum’...worse still the name stuck into Comprehensive school Bounce

Could have been a lot worse, I had a mate called Gordon, who's life was made hell when Jilted John had a hit with Gordon is a moron.eek

I do now...am I right in thinking Sale of the Century was a weekend programme? Wasn’t the biggest fan of it. Mind you there were far worse programmes in the 70s...the horrendous ‘Stars on Sunday’ for one. I’d be racing upstairs to escape it as soon as it started...
And here is proof(I just happen to have it Big Grin) Yeah yeah I know its not an image but it IS a moving image just for once.) made this some years ago. Phwoar! (Windows Movie Maker I used btw)

Yup Sunday afternoon fare with Nicholas Parsons and a bevy of beautiful hostesses.
Remember this?

I did try it ONCE and that was enough, nearly coughed my lungs up and this was at 12.!
