Rob Burrow & Kevin Sinfield have both been awarded CBE's. Since Rob's was diagnosed with MND in 2019 they have raised 15 million.

Those that obviously deserve recognition for charity work and genuine contributions to society are fair, those are the people making the country better in some way, whatever their field may be.
As soon as the people like that Weatherspoons guy are on the list, it becomes a joke. This is the guy who was a fervent Brexit supporter and spread propaganda and lies, caused no end of pain to his staff by not paying them during covid lock downs, yeah, sure, he deserves a knighthood, sure. It's as if Tory donors are getting rewarded for being the cunts we know they are...oh wait.

The 'Honours' have long since lost any credibility, and have continued to be a popularity contest, or a 'back scratching' exercise. On the one hand, gongs handed to 'friends in high places' from discredited politicians who should not even get to nominate in the first place, and on the other, others with highly questionable achievements that serve only the bandwagon gang mentality!
There are a number - to be fair - that get an honour which reflect real tangible contributions, but these are largely ignored when trotting out the other 'well known' 'deserving' recipients names for the headlines. Oh and then there is the 'heirarchy' question of who gets what level of honour??

They've been a complete irrelevance for as long as I can remember but they're worth keeping for the amount of red faced fury they cause on Twatter from the kind of morons who like to throw the word "Gammon" around and still think it's a clever insult
