I was a mere young pup in the 80's but the 80's stand out for me as the best decade for music,a decade of bad hairstyles & even worse dress sense (& even Michael Jackson looked human).Bands like Shalamar,Kool & The Gang,K.C,Duran Duran, UB40,Spandau Ballet etc happy memories.
My uncle took me to see Level 42 (great band)in concert & when I was a kid & quite a few of their songs still sound as good now as they did back then.Songs like;
Something About You.
Running in the Family
Leaving Me Now.
Sun Goes Down (Living it up)
(Apologies for my lack of IT skills on being able to upload a few of the songs I've mentioned).

Rain in the Summertime - The Alarm
I Don't Want to Be a Hero - Johnny Hates Jazz
Sugar Mice - Marillion

Not a patch on this though

Obviously known to the 80's music connoisseurs of the forum but I think they qualify as the "hardly anyone else"! (I'm automatically disqualified after the Now 10 / 11 faux pas!)
Wiki
"Copyright problems caused a re-recorded version to be released; despite this version being derided by critics it nevertheless became a massive hit in the United Kingdom spending 5 weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart in July and August 1989... reaching #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States... It was the 2nd best-selling single of 1989 in the UK."
So it was a pale imitation of of past classics.
Kinda apt for a babeshows forum

What I didn't realise back in 1989 was that there had been similar party records in 1981, as the TOTP repeats made clear.
