would that be enough to change their minds?

Possibly. Just do the appeal as the vast majority of them do succeed

ok
I haven't heard anything from them since October - and I did a second assessment/appeal around that time over the phone and they did say they would be in touch with me so the fact that it has been a long time waiting for them to get in touch with me sugggests they haven't looked at my appeal claim, so would it be worth me getting the local CAB involved or not in this, and really do think the DWP will still ask for more information - and there is not much more I could supply. All I want from them is information is on my appeal is at and when I can expect anything from them.
UPDATE

The appeal was never successful and it is 18 months down the line from that original and with the financial situation as it is - so last week iput in a call to get a fresh form to make a second application for PIP and have not received the form. will chasse up tomorrow where the form is.
STILL no new paperwork
Finally some movement got a call from DWP yesterday morning about 10am tok me by surprise if I can be honest. Guy asked me a couple of questions, not to extensive a chat and then said he'd be sending a report to DWP and I should hear something back within a couple of weeks, so hopefully, fingers crossed it is news for the better this time around.
You are so right Rammy, it is a bloody hard journey getting this, I reckon the process you have to go through puts off people who need it most. I can't imagine they'll back date it to my original claim though. I'll def go through CAB if needed if i'm turned down again.

Hopefully this comes to an positive end soon.
