ok just got a new sky HD+ box and wanted to know how to move stuff from it to my PC/laptop. It's got shit loads of things at the back and the only ones i know what they are are the scart,HDIM and a USB. now I'm thinking that the USB should work but I don't have that lead with that plug on both ends. so the questions are can you get a USB on both ends and if i fork out for it will it work
Im not sure if you can do that, but what I do is transfer the programme to dvd and them to my pc
I would be amazed and quite chuffed if you could move whole programmes as a file in seconds rather than having to record to DVD in real time! I doubt Sky would be that helpful and I think Josh1979 has HD and he posts tonnes of videos the 'old fashioned' way so if he can't do it then I don't think it is possible. If it is I'm getting it,like, yesterday! Sky should start using SD cards...
Sky HD is great, although it has the same limitations as a regular sky plus box. The usb slot cant be used to transfer recordings. Its a futureproof addition for the box. For me, there are 2 ways.

1. Dvd recorder. Tried and tested and very rarely lets u down.
2. Tv card. I have a duel anologue/digital card with S video input. Therefore I have s video between the sky box and pc. To get audio, you will require an additional lead. (2 male phono to a 3.5mm stereo jack)

Both ways can be time consuming. Best to do a real time record.
oh well it would have been nice if it was simple wonder what the USB is for then anyway thanks for your replys

I'm a techinical dunce, but the engineer who installed my Hd box said that a hard drive can be connected to the USB port at the front of the box next to the viewing card, and you can download stuff that way.

That would be the best thing since sliced bread if it were true Ponty100. Dont think sky would make it that easy for us. Plus there is no software within the sky menu for it. so far if you press copy for a recording, it plays the whole vid/vids. Have no idea what format the sky box records the vids in either. In some dvd recorders that have a hdd, you can copy certain files via a usb stick, Although its part of the software installed on the machine. Guess its something sky could do at a later date. I doubt it though. It will have to do as an Ipod charger for now.
