This is of no use to me since I dont have Sky but it looks pretty good. The instructions are very clear. The only thing I would point out that if you use an external USB caddy (recommended method) it needs to take the type of drive that your sky box has.
My USB caddy only takes parallel ATA drives not serial SATA type.
The instructions imply that the type of drive inside sky boxes could be either type, depending on type of box.
If you buy a USB caddy, (these are less than £20) make sure you get the correct interface.

If you have a very new computer, you may be lucky to have an eSATA port on it

in which case you should be able to use this instead of a USB caddy if you have a SATA drive in your sky box. You will just need the special eSata cable.
just so everyone knows for definite, there is NO direct way of transferring recorded shows on an sky + box to a computer, the usb drives on the sky box do nothing of any use so sont even try, the only way of doing it is to have a dvd recorder and record what u have recorded to disk and then transfer it over to a pc, dont bother reading things on the net about how to do it, trust me u cant!
