Is that a new rule? The ref for the world cup game between Crotia and brazil could not speak a word of English. That was the Croats complaint anyway.

Croatia complained about the ref NOT speaking English?
Haha . Does not matter if they fool the ref. More worringly it will confuse the English. They are bitching about us being one of the top seeds. No change there thanRolleyes

Yes. Most of the Croat footballers can speak English. The ref spoke to them in japanese wondering why they could not understand him.

The nightmare draw would be something like England, Italy, Poland and Wales.

Wales and Northern Ireland both in pot four, England can't draw them both, just possibly one or the other.

If the ref only gives half as many penalties - correctly or incorrectly - England will be struggling to beat Wales. Assuming Wales convert, I mean score, the penalties. Hope Australia aren't in the group. Of course not. Luckily for you it's the Euros.
Will the Euros take a leaf out of Eurovision then and invite Australia or NZ to play?
Here's the draw for the final 4 places up for grabs at Euro 2016.

Ukraine v Slovenia
Sweden v Denmark
Bosnia and Herzegovina v Republic of Ireland
Hungary v Norway

The first legs will be played as above on the 12-14 November, with the return legs on 15-17 November. The away goals rule applies.

No, it's not a new rule. The requirement for international referees to speak English has been a FIFA regulation since 2006.

Referee Yuichi Nishimura denied that he spoke Japanese in the Brazil-Croatia match, saying he spoke in English as usual.
the only conclusive evidence that would have proved otherwise that he did or didn't speak English if he was picked up on mic speaking English or not!!
