Have been using Firefox 3 and have been delighted with it however over the last day or so it seems to be playing up.

It won't load most of the pages I try and so I have restarted it,then when I try to access it again it tells me that it is still open and won't allow me access because it tells me it is already running!!Tried going through task manager where it appears to be inactive. So very puzzled.

I've seen this happen a couple of times in the last few weeks. I use firefox in linux.
Just kill off all instances of it in task manager, even if it says it is inactive, and restart firefox again. Not seen it since upgrading to v3.08 a couple of days ago.
That happens with me sometimes as well. In my case, a restart of my PC usually puts it right (Tech support bible, page oneBig Grin). It seems to be connected to the clipboard for some reason, as it only happens to me when the clipboard (whatever the hell that thing actually does) gets to over 500KB...
Thanks guys.Have restarted without success so far will check out the mysterious clipboard(what is that??)And look at the task manager again.Still not playing ball at the moment. Will keep trying.

I think the clipboard stores the very last thing that you copy, a file, picture, text etc. ready to be pasted. It remains there even after pasting and can be pasted again and again until something new is copied. If you want to reduce the size of what remains stored, just copy a small bit of text. I think it is stored in RAM.
Well it's now stopped loading completely and comes up with a "Firefox has crashed" message and won't allow a restartSad

Just thinking I might uninstall and re download.

Just thought of this.
Do you have any plugins and addons installed for firefox. You can try disabling them in Tools menu > Add-ons.
I've only got Adblock plus, DownloadHelper and Hide Unvisited installed in both Windows and linux.

I do although it appeared I had version 3.0.7

So just downloaded 3.0.8 and all seems fine..........for now. Will check the plug ins and eliminate any I think are unnecessary.
