Try running Firefox in safe mode if problems reoccur as that'll tell you if it is an add-on issue

The only one of those that I have is Download helper which seems to work ok.
Firefox has seemed Ok since installing 3.0.8 yesterday(fingers crossed)and thanks Red for the safe mode tip,hadn't thought of that
Well Firefox is back to the old tricks again and I am now pissed off.Have run it in safe mode disabled all add ons and now after a couple of different pages it just stops loading.Any alternatives out there as I have lost patience with it now.If I close it down its still comes up with Firefox is still running message ,so you have to go into the control panel to close it etc....shame as I like the speed of it but it's reliability is getting me down.I run Vista so is it possible it just doesn't work well with it?
Just adding some thanks here for the discussion on p1 of Firefox and clipboards - I'd been unable to cut and paste emails and other online documents into my word processor for printing - Works would crash whenever I tried to do it. I hadn't considered the problem could be Firefox. When I read this - especially the bit about clipboards - it made me wonder if I'd have better luck in IE. Problem solved! So cheers for making my life easier.
If it's relevant, I run Vista too - seems like there may well be a compatibility problem for some users, manifesting itself in different ways depending on what add-ons you have.
There definitely seems to be a Vista problem.I got Vista already installed with the PC.I have a laptop as well which has no issues with Firefox so I think we can blame Mr Gates(again)
Vista at fault? Possibly but unlikely. I'd say my Vista units are more stable than my XP ones
Normally it's due to the combination of what you're running and sometimes even what the website is sending
Have you tried letting Firefox use more of your RAM? I had similar problems, but then I allowed Firefox to use 16mb of my RAM rather than the usual 8mb. And if that doesn't work, it's probably a trojan. Check out this site to get it removed:

How do you get it to use mor RAM?
Open a new tab. Type “about:config” without quotes into the address bar and hit enter/click Go.
Right-click anywhere, select New, then Integer. In the dialog prompt that appears, type:
browser.cache.memory.capacity
Click OK. Another dialog prompt will appear. This is where you decide how much memory to allocate to Firefox. This depends on how much RAM your computer has, but generally you don’t want to allocate too little (under 8MB), but if you allocate too much, you might as well not do this. A good recommended setting is 16MB. If you want 16MB, enter this value into the dialog prompt:
16384
(Why 16384 instead of 16000? Because computers use base-12 counting. Thus 16 megabytes = 16384 bytes. Likewise, if you want to double that and allocate 32MB, you’d enter 32768.)
Click OK to close the dialog box, then close all instances of Firefox and restart. If your Firefox still uses the same amount of memory, give it a few minutes and it should slowly clear up. If that fails, try a system reboot.
