If people are saying neymar is a cheat then players like brown are a cheat also, and players who appeal for corners knowing it was not or a throw in...

People here are all saying things because it is a team from the UK involved who are underdogs.. I didnt see neymar cheating in confederations cup? He was the best player by far..

If he wants to do silly things like this he should expect the concequences of what will happen... Obviously he risked this happen and he was made to pay and look stupid, especially as he is captain and letting the team mates and his fans down.. Neymar is not a cheat, he was being clever making the most of a situation that a celtic player put himself in... If it was a celtic player in the barca box and pique did the same if the celtic player was clever he would go down also...

Fernandez you're condoning going down in the box. This is not right - it's not clever to go down in the penalty area. Michael Owen said something along these lines that 'players have a duty to go over in the penalty area' or 'players have a right to go down if challenged in the penalty area.' Sorry but that's bullshit. I believe players have a duty to try and remain on their feet, a duty to be honest professionals. Going down and play acting is not honest. It's cheating - and cheating is not winning and is not clever.

I don't understand what you mean about Brown trying to be clever. He hasn't done anything! There's no kick - I've looked at that video loads of times and I just can't see it. I've not just got blinkers on and I'm not just rooting for the underdog. I believe every professional player has a duty of honesty and Neymar hasn't shown it.

I would be of exactly the same view regardless of who the player is, regardless of who the teams involved were, regardless of the competition. It's not (or shouldn't be) part of the game. It's cheating.
I will agree to disagree! Wink it is a cultural thing.
how will you feel if Liverpool were playing against Barca in the champions league final the score is still 0-0 in the 90th minute, but Jordi Alba goes down easily in the box in injury time after SLIGHT contact from Steven Gerrard to win a penalty and barca score the pen and win the game? would you say that's fine Jordi Alba was just being clever by going down easily and Steven Gerrard was stupid for what he did
Like I said is part of the game, my feelings have nothing to do with it... I said before all I have to say, im not getting involve in 1 of your silly argument about liverpool..

No its not part of the game. It has been allowed to get to this state. Players are cheating and by doing so are not playing the game as intended. By not dealing with this issue clubs and authorities are condoning it. The desire to win at all costs is to blame. I want to appreciate players making mazy runs, dribbling around players, delivering accurate passes and thumping the ball into the back of the net; not watch some overhyped bloke do a dying swan in the hope that a fellow 'professional' might get sent off. I don't want to pay a load of money to watch a game full of people falling over. I can do that outside a pub for free!
While I agree there is a level of skill in hoodwinking the referees I doubt it's the sort of skills the majority in this country and most of Europe want to see.
Of course if the authorities allow the innocent player to exact revenge without fear of a red card and kick ten tons of shite out of the little fuckers then I suppose that would soon stop this childish practice.bladewave
No matter what our opinions in this country are on diving or play acting i think we need to understand that different cultures have different views and are brought up in different ways.

If you watch the Spanish football coverage on Sky you will of heard Guillem Balague say many times that if a player dives to WIN a penalty then credit to them. It's a part of the game. If you kick out at somebody's hand and they exaggerate it and you get a red card then, hey, don't kick out. You know the script before you kick Neymar in the hand.

We don't agree, of course not, but we were never brought up that way. To us its flat out cheating but to many other cultures it is NOT. It's part of the game.

Well then they are wrong, and it will always be cheating and not part of the game

In this country yes.

Other countries do not agree with that though and that is up to them.
If you play for example in Portuguese Liga Zon Sagres and an opponent player clip your foot in the box and you don't go down to try and win a penalty for your team then I can tell you that fans and Managers will not be happy! If a defender makes a poor decision in the box then it is a risk he is taking... the attacker has a right to go down... either way it is up to the referee to make a decision so saying a player is a cheat ect is not justified as the referee should be able to make a correct decision...
