i thought btcc was meant to be non-contact which the rules state yet every race about 5 cars end up with no front bumpers, side impact damage, missing wings.

When the BTCC Series Director, Chairman of the MSA, and President of the FIA Touring Car Commission happen to be the same person, "rules" aren't necessarily as rigid as you might think...it's all about entertainment and getting fans through the gate.

Even back in the Glory days of the RS500 and then the Supertouring years the likes of Cleland, Soper, Harvey & co were never shy about a spot of metal bashing.
Robb Holland will be the first American driver to race in BTCC for almost 40 years, good to see drivers of different nationalities joining, now lets get Giovanardi back Smile

im missing btcc. cant wait for 12th august
What an epic final round, so pleased for Gordon Shedden. Definitely a deserving champion.

Great to see two new winners in Aron Smith and Frank Wrathall too, especially Wrathall after the amount of bad luck he's had this year. Smith proved Plato wrong anyway, showed that he definitely has the talent to compete at the top level.

Only bad point of the weekend for me was Andy Neate's awful driving in Race 2, cutting back onto the track with no regard for any of his competitors and causing a huge accident, but I suppose you can't expect any better from someone with more money than talent.

the btcc 2013 season starts tomorrow from 10.45am on itv 4.
They had fun & games in qualifying from what i've heard. Snow showers and a hefty shunt for Colin Turkington.

Should be interesting tomorrow...this new "joker" tyre will stir things up a bit.
the s2900 car has its own trophy due to the changes in rules and regs for the chasis and engines. i would like to see the mini make a btcc comeback has it done so in the wrc.
The "MINI" is too short for the BTCC (NGTC) regs by about 700mm for the longest current model.

Dan Welch's Proton only just scrapes through with its over sized bumpers. Trying that with a MINI would look ridiculous.
