Isn't it time that we educated new members & re-educutate existing members about the rep system.Today I discovered that it has reach an all-time low. Here are the alarming stats.New member joined 4 days ago - 5 posts - 12 reps.At that current rate they will achieve 1095 reps in a year !
Reputation - the beliefs or opinion that people have of someone/something.Good name, standing, stature, renown, esteem. What I'm saying is 5 posts enough to form an opinion about someone.I understand the need to welcome, help & encourage new members but this is an example which undermines the whole ethos of the rate system.
Is it that big of a deal?

less than 1% of members have repped me after nearly 4 years...no one on this forum Will ever get near 1095 reps
I know that many cappers feel strongly about this issue as it's a time consuming task. They above all others (except forum team) deserve their reputation.Subordinates like myself are less deserving.Although you can't underestimate the brain ache I have to endure to come up with some of my stuff. Many of you will know the I recently entered a months long therepy programme because of my endeavours.
I think its nice when someone takes time out to rep you and tell you why I think its a nice touch when its genuine.

Judging by your flippant comment it doesn't bother you.I believe that if you've got a tool you should use it with respect. You can still knock a nail in with a chisel but that doesn't make it right.A hammer would be the correct method.people will observe you using the chisel & copy, this leads to bad habits

I was using the 1095 reps as a worst case scenario,of course no one will get that many.As in your case they tail off.As an ex mod I would hope many of yours were reward for help/advice in your capacity as a mod.As only 18% of members post (fact) & I'd guess 60% contribute occasionally, receiving reps from more than 1% of members would be unlikely. As you've thanked the post re:is it that big a deal you've lost faith in the integrity of the rate system & are now apathetic towards it.
I always return a rep favour, and do give credit where its due in regard to caps / videos / posts I've enjoyed reading. There's nothing wrong with giving thanks - it doesn't cost anything.
you gonna whinge at me about my post to rep count then boomer.... comparing my count ratio to your own, im ferkin marvelous, and you're a monkey..!!!! pmsl.
