My 2p's worth. If you have a couple of hours spare maybe have a casual ride over to where the job is and see how the old bike holds up. If it'll be okay for the time being then cycle that. I'm sure it'll be fine with a few tweeks here and there.
The money you'll save on the bus couple with your first pay packet and you can have yourself a handsome new bike!

as i m going to go shopping for my new bike tomorrow i was wandering is suspension important. i dont have it on my mountain bike now but just wanted to know is it worth getting.
Personally I wouldn't be to bothered about suspension unless you plan on going off road a lot.
If you are using it mainly on roads and cycle tracks then it will only serve to soak up any energy you are putting in to riding your bike. My bike has no suspension and I haven't missed it in the slightest. The first few pot holes, drain covers and rumble strips you do notice the lack of suspension, but in no time at all, your'll be flying and won't give it a seconds thought.
I'm going to bring my bike in tomorrow to get fixed if there is a place opened, I plan in getting a new bike in the summer as soon as I finish my year in college. Its just it gets a little boring walking up and down the same route to college and it can be tough sometimes carrying a load of books when walking up a hill, so it would be handy to have a bike to use like I did at the start of the year
Plus when I get a new bike, I need something (I know theres a name for them, I can't think of it) to stop muck getting on my clothes and bag, its particularly bad with the muck when it rains heavy
A gel seat...with quick release is the best option....comfort can mean quite a lot...depending on how many miles U decide to cover..
You also need decent mudgaurds buddy..theres a few to choose from too....

Its just the tyres are punctured, I just hope it doesn't take weeks to fix. A few years ago, I brought my bike to be fixed, it took two weeks, just to fix a couple of punctured tyres.
A mudguard, I think thats the name I'm thinking of, I need that on my bike
Indeed, Mart solved your problem. You might be able to find a cheap set of mud guards on ebay if you are looking to get a new bike anyway. Failing that you can get a set of guards delivered which you can put on your current bike and then on your would be new bike to...

As for the puncture. I'd suggest doing it yourself to be honest. I'm sure there are plenty of sites out there that will offer tips and video demonstrations on fixing a puncture, a quick google search and I found this one

If you do decide to fix your puncture then one important tip is to check inside the rims of the wheel to see if you can spot anything still in there .
