World Athletics start this weekend, and I cant wait, love my athletics.
Looking forward to seeing brilliant Jess Ennis.
Someone I think will be awesome in a few years is Emma Jackson 800m and our 400m hurdler & relay runner Perri Shakes-Drayton (an after race TV interviewers dream) and Holly Bleasdale (Pole Vaulter from nowhere).
And go go Mo Farah putting GB distance running back on the map at last.
Lisa Dobrisky coming back from injury PLEASE get your tactics right for ONCE!!

Hope all of you who love your athletics as I do, enjoy this week and post your comments and thoughts on here.
Please dont let this thread turn into a 2012 debate, as there is already a thread for that.
i do but on channel 4 no thanks, imagine jessica ennis (the hottest athlete around) coming down the home straight of the 800m and they cut to ads. the bbc have cocked up by not getting the rights for the worlds. if they come britain after 2012 then the bbc should put a competitive bid for the rights.

the presenting team c4 have to put together is almost identical to bbc apart from john rawling, rick edwards (t4) and ortis (gadget show). micheal johnson and dean macey will do a fantastic job. rick edwards and ortis are not good presenters.
I do agree BG nobody does it better than the beeb, and its not the same. Rawling is great though, I still miss him as BBC radio Boxing and athletics commentator. Ewan Thomas (ex 400m) is also on the team and knows his stuff, and trackside Sonia Mc.. is OK.
Think we are just going to have to put up with it, but its a bit like eurosport at the moment.

So far not too many adds, but once Bolt gets on the track I guess there will be loads.

My first comment is PLEASE PLEASE bring back the RED tracks...
Perhaps its because I am an old fart stuck in my ways.
It was dsappointing to see Ohurugu disqualified- she had a terrible season
Yes Ohurugu off to a flying start.......Oh SHIT!!!!
As Darren Campbell has said she now has to stay and now make up for it in the 4x400 relay as we have a great squad, and for her now the only way is up, but I dont think her heart is in it this year, or her confidence is shot since the injuries.
Sad to see both her and also Nicola Sanders shy of her best.

Spot on BG, Ortis so far looks completely out of his depth.

I really am the kiss of death (Jonah is Back Big Time)
Holly Bleasdale in the Pole Vault not qualified but only still aged only 19 she will improve but i'm gutted for her.
Lisa Dobrisky 2nd last in her heat, and obviously still not 100% yet.

Hope Mo Farah goes well in the 10,000 shortly but I fear that Bekele will have too much if he back to his best......but GO MO!!
.
So proud of Mo Farah, gave it everything and should be damn proud of his self.

The heptathalon is really hotting up, Jess Ennis after 2 events has got her work cut out. This will go to the wire, right down to the last event tomorrow the 800m.

Bolt was a shock, and must give some comfort to Ohurugu.
The whole one false start and you're out for me ruined the whole competition.
Really hope Jess Ennis can hold on and clinch gold on day 2 of the heptathlon. After a slightly below par high jump she recovered well with a shotput PB and a sound 200m. Her nearest challengers have strong day 2 events so I feel Jess will need a very good long jump and a par javelin to get the job done. The 800m should hold few fears for her. Could be a close finish overall.
Channel 4 are making a dogs breakfast with their coverage.Sadannoyed
