I can't believe that's on already, last season it was on late January.

Many top professionals don't enter because of the low prize money, and the lottery of one frame shootouts. For players in the lower rankings though, it's a good chance to put some ranking points on the board if they get lucky, and literary anyone can win.

In theory even the women snooker players with tour cards can do well in this, but they usually all get knocked out in the first round. Baipat Siripaporn is already out, falling foul to a 59 break by Mark Davis. I hope Reanne Evans and Mink Nutcharut have better luck this evening.
Jimmy White among the many names to fall yesterday, but - YES! - Barry Pinches prevailed Tongue
Ridiculous scenes at the Shootout today.

The first ever 147 in the event.
By none other than errrrr.
Well errrrr.

Oops.

Sorry Doddle.

It was an excellent break to be fair.
Clearing the pressure colours under a ten second shot clock is no mean feat when going for a maximum break.
As Ronnie said the other week, it's only a frame.

Reanne Evans ran into someone who made a 90-odd break.
Yes, David Lilley rattled off a 92 break to see off Reanne Evans. Mink's frame was a bit more scrappy, but Anthony Hamilton emerged the winner. Better luck next year ladies.
I think the song Spaceman by Babylon Zoo in the 90s is far better than the recent song of the same name by Sam Ryder.

Well done to Spaceman Dominic Dale for knocking out Tubs by just 2 points. I think that's the 2nd time this season he's beaten Tubs.
Pinches and Milkins bit the dust in round 2 Sad Not many big names left in the last 32, to be honest.
Mark Allen is the champion after beating Cao Yupeng 65-4 in the final.

Notable ranking points for Steven Hallworth who made the semi finals before losing to the Northern Irishman.
Mark Allen must be feeling he achieved his objective for entering the tournament while other top professionals didn't. In the New Year the focus is going to be on the Players Championship and places in the top 16 on the 1 year ranking list needed to qualify. Allen won the Champion of Champions but that is not a ranking tournament. Allen was no.30 on the 1 year ranking list before the Shootout, that win puts him as no.11 on the 1 year list and inline for a place in the Players Championship if he can stay in the top 16 until the cutoff.

OK, but there still were some. As ever, the less familiar faces were of more interest (especially once Ali Carter finally got KO'd). Well done to Triangle Face for winning, and Cao for making the final.
